A phone with decent camera, fp scanner, wireless charging, 5Ghz WiFi and good LineageOS support, under A$350. Am I dreaming?

Basically, the subj. I'm looking for an Android phone that would have:

  • more-or-less recent Snapdragon CPU;
  • decent back camera (12mp+);
  • fingerprint scanner;
  • wireless charging;
  • dual-band WiFi support;
  • good LineageOS support (to be used as a daily driver without undermined hardware capabilities, e.g. cameras; Android safetynet checks passing OK);
  • priced under A$350;

Does something like this even exist?

    Of those qualities the camera and wireless charging will be the most difficult - native qi charging is generally available only on flagship phones so you will probably be looking at older gen flagships. Moreover megapixel is also a fairly bad indicator of camera quality.

    The others are all possible. The moto g5 plus has all of the above except qi charging (and possibly price depending on sales available but they should both be easily under $400) the Xiaomi mi5 is also an option but I don't know if you can run lineage os

    • The older gen flagships are OK, as long as they have an official Lineage OS build.

    I would say the Nexus 5X (32GB) is probably the closest you're going to get.
    Its within budget and has everything you've asked.

    Except it lacks wireless charging (but can support it with various cases/accessories).
    Also the QSD 808 chipset is equal to the 2014-old QSD 801. Which is definitely a step down from the QSD 650, QSD 652, QSD 653. Or the QSD 660, QSD 820, QSD 821 family. And much much inferior to the QSD 835 flagship.

    …otherwise you might have to get a Used Galaxy S7, which should satisfy all factors, but will blow your budget a bit.

    • I used to have Nexus 5X. It was a great phone (not without lags though) but it recently died of the infaimous boot-loop issue.
      Been looking at S7 but the LineageOS build for it still has a disfunctional camera, with a very low hope for a proper fix. That's a dealbreaker for me, I just can't stand the bloated Samsung stock ROM and how they stay up-to-date with Android releases.

        I would say, forget about the price and get the phone that meets your requirements.
        But make sure it has LTE-700MHz (Band 28) / all the necessary gsm bands.

        From what I know there are only 2 phones that meet your criteria: the Pixel and the Pixel XL.
        If you know of any others, I'm interested in knowing as well.
        My 5X has a broken glass, so it might be due for an upgrade as well.

        • Hang on, since when did the Pixels have wireless charging?

    Xiaomi Mi5 goes close apart from wireless charging…
    potentially hackable to enable this though.

    • Or mi5s since that has better camera. Within budget.

      • This seems to be an arguable point from what I've read.
        Seems to Mi5S is better in low light conditions only.

        • It's better in general. Just that the mi5 is good enough that you can't tell in perfect sunlight. It's also better for video

    What about this http://m.gadgets.ndtv.com/oppo-a57-3896 Not sue if specs match but great phone specs

    The Oppo A57 is powered by 1.4GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor
    The phone packs 32GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card. As far as the cameras are concerned, the Oppo A57 packs a 13-megapixel primary camera on the rear and a 16-megapixel front shooter for selfies.
    a 5.20-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 720 pixels by 1280 pixels.
    The Oppo A57 is a dual SIM (GSM and GSM) smartphone that accepts Nano-SIM and Nano-SIM. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, USB OTG, FM, 3G and 4G (with support for Band 40 used by some LTE networks in India). Sensors on the phone include Compass Magnetometer, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor and Gyroscope.

    Though mine is not dual sim. Paid about 350.

    • A decent phone but doesn't appear to support LineageOS. Thanks anyway!

    Wireless charging can be obtained by using an usb/usbc adapter. So if you ditch that, you have alot of pretty good options at 350 bucks.

    If you really really need it, upgrade your budget to get the moto z play.

    • I could ditch wireless charging, but not the LineageOS support (that without comporomising hardware capabilities, unlike with LineageOS for S7, for example). In this light, could you still suggest any particular brand/model? Ta!

        Xiaomi phones, either the mi5 or redmi note 3.
        Another would be the zuk 2.

        If you want something local, the motog5 plus is still in unofficial, but I'm sure it'll be official later on given how popular it is.
