Aldi Pasta Maker - On Sale From Wed 19th July

Hi Guys,

this is my first post so forgive me if it is the wrong section or already been posted

https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/special-buys-wed-19-…

just wanted to get everyone's thoughts on this item? and have they seen it before, i could not find anything on the net about it.

and $129 seems a bit steep? considering Kmart used to have an electrical pasta maker for around $40 which looks like the same one Kogan is now selling for $99

look forward to the discussion.. i have been keeping my eye out for a pasta maker for a long time, however i dont want to spend $400 on one.

Thanks
DrMilan

buy a Marcato instead - I got the whole package for like 160.

    • This! If you're going to make pasta, do it properly.

This isn't that much cheaper. The Marcato 150 is the one to go for. It's easy to get new parts as well.

    • In saying that - I am yet to master the Ravioli attachment :P - the key seems to be to get a good pasta recipe. I suck at making the fancy pastas, but spaghetti etc work great.

      • As in rolling out the dough to make the Ravioli ? That takes practice!

Look at Jamie Oliver's home made pasta recipe.

    • I just did some searching and found one on special for $79+ postage and posted the deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/318512
I'm now looking at some attachments, any opinions on must-haves/favourites?

    • I have one of these. they're fine, until you get over the manual method.

  • you can always buy it and try it. and if it's not good then return it under Aldi's 60 money back no questions asked returns policy

  • i'm also looking for one of these automated ones now as i like to make ramen and the kneeding of dough is a pain in the ass.

I think $129 is pretty cheap if it does what it says it does. The one i've been eyeing off is the Philips pasta/noodle maker which is more than double the price. But i've only heard good reports about it. Would really like to hear from anyone who uses the aldi one to compare.

  • damn i missed out on that myer deal.. looked here too late! keep your eyes peeled guys cant wait to get one, just waiting for the right moment for the right one and right price to come along.

  • I think there is a cashback on this Philips at the moment, and with 20% off some ppl on ebay, there might be a deal to be had.

I bought the aldi one. a bit of trial and error with the ratios to get some pasta going. will have to keep playing with it to get some consistent results.

anyone else get one and what was your experience?

    • Hi, I just bought this from Aldi yesterday too, haven't used it yet. The instructions for adding certain amounts of liquid to the flour are confusing, can i ask how many eggs you've used vs. water to get the right consistency??

      • for one cup of flour, I went with one egg and then remaining water (which I think is 70ml or 80ml total). The pasta was still pretty pale, so im going to bump up the egg ratio. probably 2eggs for every cup of flour and go from there.

        • Thankyou! That makes sense as most pasta recipes i've seen hardly use water- just eggs.. Going to trial a batch on Sunday, mostly wanting to make angolotti/ filled pasta, which most pasta machines don't make.

  • I got the Aldi Pasta Maker. It doesn't work. I measured the ratios exactly and even tried the soft '00' flour but it doesn't knead the dough. The ball of dough sticks to the axel and simply goes round the mixing chamber and doesn't get pushed out the front. Will be returning it for a refund.

  • thanks for the update! guess we will steer clear of that one…
