Upgrade to Gold Class for $5 Extra @ Event Cinemas (Cinebuzz Members)

1240

Here's a pretty awesome deal, upgrade to gold class for just $5 extra up until this Sunday. Excludes after 5PM Friday and Saturday, and must be a cinebuzz member, registration is free.

Has to be combined with a full price traditional adult ticket. So you're saving about $20 in total. Just book online or scan your cinebuzz card at the desk.

Enjoy :)

Too bad movie selection is crap.

  • +3

If you book during the day, you save a whole 50cents haha

    • Yeah I guess the real savings are the night sessions.

  • +1

Do you get free snack food / drink with the Gold Class? Or why should we upgrade?

    • +4

No free food or drinks sadly.

You get better seats, and you can order (overpriced) food that the waiters will bring to your spot. IMO not worth it at all at full price, but at +$5 I'd consider it especially if the good spots are taken in economy class.

Tap water from the bar is free.
Almost worth posting as a separate deal.

      Gold Class is awesome

Big reclining seats, no smelly (profanity) next to you, food and booze bought to you; you can say bring me a beer every 10minutes :D

      You should try it once

This is part of why I hate gold class. The staff can be discrete ninjas but nothing covers up the sound of the door opening and closing every few minutes, and the staff walking by you with a food/drink tray because some people can't sit for 2 hours without needing to stuff their faces.

        • +2

This is the sole reason I dislike gold class and wouldn't go even if it was the same price as the normal screens. Only tried it once but the staff were not even close to being discrete.

If they stopped serving the food and drink as soon as the movie started I would probably go back but until then I'll quite happily continue going to the normal cinemas during the quiet sessions.

It's no worse than some (profanity) kid looking at their phone every 10minutes

        • @nobarginsarehere: he's checking OzBargain

        • @muncan: I knew it!

    • You guys should perhaps also consider the Lux cinemas at Hoyts too. You get a free choice of drink (like lemon lime bitters) and a small popcorn with your ticket. And you can choose to buy more (as always overpriced food) that they bring to your seat.

Seeing a movie in gold class and ordering food is on my list of things to do - once I become a billionaire.

    • Save your money-but Avocado Smash.

Standard Adult tickets are $22? No wonder I rarely go to the cinemas. Vmax tickets are cheaper through Telstra thanks, will do that instead.

    • +3

For 1.5hours of entertainment, it's cheaper than eating out or 2x beers

      • +1

Cheaper than a Thai hooker and much less risky.

    • Standard for Event Cinemas through Telstra is $12.50, Also $15.50 for 3D and Vmax for those who're wondering. I usually book for friends and family.

Avocado on toast in Gold Class….millionaire's dream

    • Sounds yum, sadly I am allergic to avocado.

Great deal. Just booked at Australia Fair. Std tickets are $10 so $15 for Gold Class. Thanks OP date night sorted!

It's weird how the prices vary for different cinemas. Springfield cinemas are $13 for vmax session if you are a cinebuzz member, but Indooroopilly price is $22 (no cinebuzz discount), and Browns Plains is $10 (cinebuzz discount). That's the 3 cinemas near me.

Can we smoke weed in the cinema yet?

    • Bake some edibles and catch an Uber to the cinema.

  • Wonderwoman is worth seeing but given the seats at Chaddy are spacious and reclining, I don't see the point of going gold class - besides these guys don't seem to have Victorian cinemas. I take my own food into the cinema so don't need Gold Class. Good deal for those who do use it though.

    • Victorian equivalent is Village

Eh, compared to regular Telstra tickets it's still like $14.5 extra. Pushing it a bit

Meh. I prefer the larger screen of a normal cinema. Gold cinema screens are tiny and the food is overpriced and doesn't even taste good.

  • Just FYI if you have AAMI insurance you can get $20 Gold Class tickets Mon - Wed
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/257014

  • Bought 2 tickets as I had some gift cards to use. Even with discount, it was $50. And then another $6.5 in booking fees. How they can get away with these fees I have no idea. The fee alone is like the price of a ticket at cineplex. Baffling.

    • You should have just gone and booked in person to waive the fees, it works both ways.

      • 99% would book online. They know this. Driving to cinema and back just to buy tickets for a session several days later is clearly not worth the time and effort and is quite ludicrous even to be suggested in this day and age.

But as long as people accept it, I guess they have no reason to change. I would normally go out of my way to avoid places with such practices, but maybe it's just me.

        • It's easy enough for me considering my local is 10 minutes away and a shopping centre which I frequently visit. It's not ludicrous considering you can just pay at the door and save on the fees, doesn't have to be in advance, especially for normal screenings.

        • @doweyy:
Buying at door works for places like cineplex which doesn't have numbered seating. Unfortunately event cinemas do (at least the ones I've been to) and I don't much like sitting at front row.

Anyway, getting away from topic :) I'm just baffled is all that they are getting away with it.
