Is that you in the photo?

    • That's Steve, the boss man :)

Good prices. I guess because of the new Axx70 series already out.
Do you know if Axx60 series will be updated with Dolby Vision and Hybrid Log-Gamma?

      • Fantastic! So not much a reason to buy the latest 3070 over 3060. Newer DAC is the only difference, but don't think one can tell the difference.

        • +1

I've only had a quick look at the 3070 when it came out, apart from the addition of XLR inputs and new DAC if it makes any difference, looks like a side-grade to to 3060 rather than a significant upgrade, if you have no use for the XLR inputs, save some $ and get 3060.

    • The official release for the RX-A3070 in Australia is August

Fantastic price on the 3060, is very tempting to upgrade my RX-V3900 lol

great bunch of guys at Eastwood HiFi (who are based in Dural)
Been buying stuff from them when they were actually in Eastwood

Thanks for the positive feedback. We appreciate it!

I view receivers similar to DSLR camera bodies and lenses. You're better off spending $$$ on good speakers than the receiver, which changes and improves in technology every year, whereas speakers are generally good for 5-10 years. Just my 2c.

    • +1

Good analogy and I couldn't agree more. My RX-A3010 from 2012 is still going strong (I think I paid the same price) and they still haven't increased the power output in the current model.

The only thing I would say is that high-end speakers are good for 20+ years. My Wharfedale Opus 2 surround set up together with the HSU Research 350W subwoofer -have been going strong since 2005 and will never get replaced for as long as they keep producing that sweet sweet sound!

    Awesome price..

  • Wow… I bought a VX-1081 for $1500 from them last year, and that was a good price.
    :(

  • NOooooooooooooooo. I paid $3,000 a year ago for mine (3050). Good price.

    • Isn't that full retail??

  • Keen to buy but can't find on special on the website?

    • All good. Have emailed

    • You'll find the pricing listed on the 'Specials' section of our website under 'Steve's Clearance and 2nds.' We'll also list them more prominently on our website in the coming days

Too late! Already purchased one from you today!!! Thanks for the great deal/service!

        • Good o. We appreciate your business. Enjoy the new AV receiver!

  • Would this be a huge step up from pioneer VSX-1130 165W 7.2 AV Receiver that has come up a few times in this forum in 2017 ? I am only looking at wattage .

    • +1

      Yes, ignore that 165w figure for the 1130 it's marketing dribble it's true rating is "105 W/ch (8 ohms 20 Hz-20 kHz tHD 0.09 % 1 ch Driven)" https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1033/3157/files/VSX-1130.pā€¦

      The RX-A3060 "Rated Output Power (20Hz-20kHz, 2ch driven) 150 W (8 ohms, 0.06% THD)"
      The RX-A2060 "Rated Output Power (20Hz-20kHz, 2ch driven) 140 W (8 ohms, 0.06% THD)"
      The RX-A1060 "Rated Output Power (20Hz-20kHz, 2ch driven) 110 W (8 ohms, 0.06% THD)

You should always compare full range(20Hz-20-kHz power figures and preferably with at least 2-channels driven, very few give ratings for 5 or 7 channels driven, as you can see the 2060 & 3060 Yamaha models are rated well above the Pioneer with only it's one channel driven rating.
The RX-A30060 & 2060 are also higher current designs allowing them to drive more demanding speakers much better, i.e speakers with low ohm rating.

The VSX-1130 would probably be equivalent to the Yamaha RX-A860.

Thanks a lot for enlightening me boss . šŸ‘.

Great deal, just wish it did 7.2.4 out of the box without extra power amp. I'll keep my fingers crossed for next next update ~Aug 2018? otherwise Denon I guess.
Sidenote my 15yo Yamaha is still kicking harder than newer entry level one my mate just got.

    • +1

That's a decent life you're getting out of your 15 year old Yamaha :)

There's a few 11 channel AV receivers available now (Denon, Onkyo, Anthem etc) that will do 7.2.4 out of the box, but they're a lot more expensive than 9 channel AV receivers in most cases. Adding an affordable 2 channel power amp together with the Yamaha RX-A3060 to expand to 11 channels would cost similar or less money than a stand alone 11 channel AV receiver. But the convenience of having all 11 channels in one box is an advantage if space is at a premium.

  • @Store Rep. What are some decent Atmos speaker you sell with a decent price that you recommend?

    • If you're looking to install Atmos speakers in the ceiling (they give the best effect) consider some Yamaha NS-IC600 ceiling speakers. RRP is $449/pair, but you'll pay around $250/pair to $300/pair on discount.

Regular in ceiling speakers can be used for Dolby Atmos - a specific Atmos ceiling speaker is not required
