  • When do the SIMs expire? As in when you have to activate them by.

      Usually 30 days from purchase

      • Yeah that sounds about right. Guess I'll pass, I'm already holding on $10 on 186 days. Thanks.

There should be a sim expiry date on back of sim, probably well into 2018 ( purchased three from Australia post $30 for $10 for both the mobile phone and tablet/data sims and all three late 2018 ).

Once you activate sim, you will get either 28 or 30 days before included credit will expire, but sim will remain active for some months till you re-charge or get's cut off.

        • @ozhunter68: Seems a lucky dip then…
I bought few times from Coles/Woolies all have 30 days expiry from date of purchase.

The sims do not expire in 30 days, usually they have late same year expiry, i would assume you have at least 3 - 5 months to activate them!

        • @LiMaaa:

I received the sim today. The sim expires March 1, 2019 however there is a note on the back that says:

Activate within 30 days of purchase or by the date advertised on the promotion

So it seems if you don't activate by August 11, you may lose the $30/$40 credit. Can anyone confirm this is the case?

        • @neil: It's just a disclaimer. You can find the answer here:

        • @LiMaaa:

OK cool. Wonder why they put that on there if they don't intend to enforce it.

        • @neil: So you activate faster and buy more products ;)

Thanks. Order one of $30 kit.

  • Can I buy one of these kits and use it to recharge? Sorry if that's a dumb question, I want to keep my number and only switched from a plan to post paid yesterday.

    • -1

I doubt. The credit came preloaded when activate the sim

    • Try Live Chat, but you might depend on who you get. Luck of the draw.

    • you could probably activate it, and port your existing number if you were on pre-paid, except I just read you moved to post paid…

    • +2

Yes you can, I do it all the time. Just live chat online, tell them your sim got damaged so you bought a starter kit for the new sim and want to keep your number. They will say oh we cant do that, you need a $2 sim, you just say "I have done it before with your service and you should be able to activate my $30 starter kit and transfer my number across.

Still works till this day. ;)

  • Nice. Haven't purchased one in a while. Do you know if someone else can sign for the delivery if you're not home? I know for certain that Telstra uses airlock post which requires ID verification (very annoying when someone's home but they can't sign for it).

    • +1

It's meant to have ID sign, but I never have to sign for mine.
