A mate had his GPS drop dead and and asked me what to replace it with (for some reason). Not being up on what's what these day's I'll put it out there for advice instead. His dead one is a TomTom Via 620 with a 6" screen. I think he's a bit off TomTom for some reason but I've never had any trouble with them. So can someone recommend a good replacement, preferably with a few years of map replacements. :)

Why not just buy a windshield holder and a car charger so he can use his phone ?
The TomTom iPhone app is meant to be fantastic.
I'll mention the iphone app to him. I guess that would work on their ipad too?
I wouldn't be using a full size iPad. That would block your view way too much.
Why can't he use his phone ? There's probably a tom tom android app too…
When I was in BKK recently one of my uber drivers was using an ipad for navigation. It really did look quite ridiculous.

Why not just mount your phone to the windscreen and use Google maps which is free?
Just buy a street directory. How often do you actually need to find somewhere new anyway?
