you have to ask an Independent financial adviser

  • Some super funds allow you to choose broadly how your money is invested (e.g. property, indexed diversified) but if you want a high level of control, I think you'll have to use a SMSF.

Is there a ETF version of it? If there is you can try Australian Super, Care super and a few others which allow you a direct investment option without the hassle and cost of a SMSF

    • Yep, this would be how I do it. Though, to some extent, a properly balanced super fund is effectively the same thing a vanguard index fund.

      • I do this because the overall management fees become much lower as your balance increases. Especially with superfunds that charge a fixed direct investment cost and fixed admin fee.

This is a wholesale fund, which means it targets institutional investors as its clients (e.g. super funds).
If you check the investment options in your super fund you may already have access to it.
If you do not, give Vanguard a call and ask them to tell you some retail super funds that invest in this product, and you could roll your super over into that fund and invest in the Vanguard option.
If you have an SMSF you can invest directly, but they have high minimum investments.

I'm not an advisor, but I would suggest you consider why you want to invest in this fund. The typical reason would be that it has a simple allocation of assets that maps indexes and low fees.
You could reasonably duplicate this fund's investments via ETFs for a similar outcome by investing in the ASX200, MCSI Global and fixed interest ETFs.

If you aren't clear on what I am talking about, I'd suggest you might want to talk to your existing super fund - most will offer some level of "advice" and would offer a mix of investments that would offer a similar asset allocation with lowish fees.
