With the recent price hike in electricity and gas, I was comparing rates online - just make sure the plans and rates are updated, you may get false results due to retailers not updating their plans, thus appearing as cheaper in the comparison list- and noticed some discounts and incentives to switching providers.
Now, when it comes to incentives, some will offer $50 for signing up online and/or the usual discounts on usage if you pay on time or use direct debit.
Here is my question:
AGL is offering $50 credit and 10,000 flybuys points (equals $50) for signing up online to either gas or electricity. What stops me for having the gas account under my name and the electricity under my housemate or partner's name? Doing it that way, we get $100 credit and 20,000 flybuys points. Instead of one of us signing up online and only getting $100 and 10,000 flybuys points.

Thoughts ? Ideas ?
I'm still sleepy, thanks for asking :D
You don't get anything for signing up gas & electricity under the same name, and they limit the conditions to the member, not the address, so give it a try.
They'll no doubt manage to shaft you, given their many years of experience in those matters. Eh.
Take note of any exit fees though.
