Cheapest Courier to Send 70 Kg Item

Hey guys,

I need to send an item from Canberra to Melbourne & I am trying to find the cheapest price I can

dimensions are the following

Dimensions – 880 (l) x 660 (w) x 660 (h)
Weight 70kgs

TNT express seems to be the cheapest I can find at 110 bucks.

Does anyone know any other couriers who are cheaper than that? Have looked around on net but can't find any.

Any help is much appreciated.

$110 actually seems reasonable for a 70kg parcel.

Have you considered driving it down yourself over a weekend?

Maybe if they want to make a trip of it, but fuel alone would make it more expensive than TNT.

Good way to get multiple quotes at once

    interparcel.com.au

They allow you to choose best option and most will collect from your home also.

    • plus 1 interparcel, you can get multiple quotes and organise pickup and all that through them

neg 1 my only dealing with them has been someone trying to send me something and the courier they organised never turned up to pick it up (multiple times), so they had to organise someone else all together.

  • Try Fastway

    • unless you want it to actually show up lol

Yeah, they can be pretty dodgy at times, but OP said cheap, not reliable ;)

In that case, OP pm me! Cheap af but may or may not receive the item?

  • Do sendle do parcels that big?

  • You will struggle to get cheaper than that.

  • Hi,

I ran the dimensions and weight through https://www.parcel2courier.com/
assuming Canberra 2600 and Melbourne 3000 and got $106.57 via TNT Road Express.

You might even try to use the Code "DOCKET5" or "FACEBOOK" for a discount.

Are you sending a short plump person? The parcel weighs more than I do.

  • www.transdirect.com.au - a few bucks cheaper than the other sites.

"Items that exceed 25kgs must be packed on a Skid, Pallet or Crate…You must have a forklift available at both the sending & receiving addresses"

I'm guessing you're going to have loading/unloading issues, unless you're at a warehouse, in which case you probably wouldn't be posting this.

  • Try online E-Go (the online service for Hunter Express). They have various options such as door-to-door, door-to-depot and depot-to-depot.

Quote for Depot (Mitchell, 2611) to Depot in Melbourne (of which they have several) is $92.91. Door-to-door is $123.11.

If you have an account with them then the cost would be $73.51 and $100.31 respectively.

We use them for all of our business courier needs and find them 100% reliable

$67.71 using TNT - just did a quote on temando.com

    • Wow - that's cheap…

Seriously its 70kgs!!! for $110 and you still want it cheaper!? Go price a 500g or 3kg parcel via auspost, then come back and see if its cheap or not.

    • Don't tell me what to do

      • Stop complaining, do as you're told!!

  • You can post an add in airtasker and see how much people will pay for it. But if I were you, it will go with TNT, they are good and does not worth it to save $$ and deal with some problem later on.

    • you are joking. They are no better than the budget couriers and we have had massive problems with TNT. Worst of both worlds

Hey guys… Thanks for all your feedback.. I ended up going with TNT… As many mentioned on here its just not worth the risk going with another entity..

The item (A gas ducted heating unit brought second hand) rocked up in perfect condition.. Even though the seller hardly wrapper it in anything at all.
