Can Anyone Recommend a Good Office Chair with No Wheels

as per title, looking for a chair that's flat. Floor doesn't go too well with a chair with wheels. Anyone know where to buy one? Thanks

You can replace office chair wheels with glides.

    https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/inabox-off…

You can also buy chair mats. I buy mine from IKEA usually.

    • I did have a mat but can't use it grrr. Sweet didnt know that. that is awesome. thanks

FYI the glides are not always compatible with every chair. I bought those and tried it on my cheap IKEA chair… didn't fit in at all.

Keep the receipt so that you can return it if it doesn't fit, just in case.

  • Hope you don't me asking but on a similar theme to that Officeworks product, anyone know where to get "taller" castor wheels? I've found a lot of chairs on sale don't go high enough for my desk at home. Putting a booster cushion or something kinda defeats the purpose of a decent seat, lined up backrest shape, etc. so on seeing this topic I just got the idea on whether I can just find some way to raise up the height via the wheel castors instead.

Edit: hopefully without just resorting to buying massively oversized wheels that seem to cost way more too. Just something with a longer shaft bit would do …

(hey can't blame a guy wanting a couple of extra inches down there ya know …)

    • Buy a replacement gaslift cylinder tube.

      https://www.amazon.com/Replacement-Drafting-Stool-Cylinder-P…

      description says…

2" (50mm) wide x 12.4" (315mm) tall main support tube column will fit most chair bases (larger diameter black tube)
8" piston stroke adjustment range (up & down)
22.25" (565mm) total overall extended length
      Black
Ideal to replace gas cylinders on most tall task chairs, drafting chairs, and stools, including those purchased at office supply stores.

However if your chair is too high, and your base is too narrow, you may end up falling over when you lean back in your chair.

  • Just found this repository of all things caster-related, which may be helpful for you: http://www.backdesigns.com/Chair-caster-selection-and-safety…
