Need to upgrade a laptop to SSD, seems eBay cheapest is around $100. Anything cheaper anywhere?

Dont cheap out just spend $139 on a samsung 850 250gb and enjoy the speed.
I can definitely notice the speed difference between my samsung and my sandisk ssd's

  Noticing is a terribly unreliable way of measuring SSD speed. Especially if you have a belief that one ssd is faster than the other.
