32"-42" TV for bedroom

Hi Guys,

Looking to get a 32-42" TV for my bedroom. Happy to get 32" but they'res not that big of a range in that size. I've got a 32" IPS LG tv from about 5 years ago wondering how big of an upgrade it would be to get something newer picture quality wise. Not sure what specs to look at to measure picture quality.
Budget is around $700-800AUD. I mostly watch 1080p stuff so not sure if 4k is worth it. I saw a pretty nice curved LG 32" monitor not sure if there'd be any drawbacks to just getting that compared to a TV (I have a android box so connecting to the monitor would be fine).

Cheers

You'll find a 40 inch to be not much more expensive than a 32 and you will definitely notice a difference in size. If you have the space then go the larger panel. 40 inch is pretty much the industry standard now so you'd have plenty of more options available to you. At the size of 32 inches a curved screen would be a waste of time (I reckon at any size it's a gimmick), likewise 4K is useless for anything less than a 50 inch in my opinion. At larger screen sizes and if you have lots of content then 4K is worth it. 1080P is more than enough for a smaller screen and easier to find a lot more content at that resolution. Go for the 4K if you plan on using the screen to play games.

    • Not going to game, only reason why i was thinking 4k is because i sit pretty close to the tv like under a metre (hence why i didn't really need a big size).

      • In that case then 32 inch would be better or potentially even smaller like a computer monitor with a higher resolution. The best way to review televisions is to see them in action - go and visit a store and take a look. In the end you're looking for responsiveness, maybe SMART features, a good remote, etc. A lot of the smaller TVs are pretty generic now - not a lot of things differentiate them so much.

Doesn't ship till august 23rd though.

Monitors dont have very good speakers, or remotes.

I own one of these Soniq 42" Full HD TV's, only $299:

No complaints for the price tag, only minor complaint is needing to aim remote directly at the sensor.

Unless you are wanting to get a good 4K 40" Samsung, save your money and get one of these.

My Sony TV is like that too - then it takes forever to react to button presses.
I end up getting channel 77 instead of 7 because of my impatience.

  • Why not put the $700-800 towards something you need?
Imo it doesn't sound like there's much point in the upgrade right now.
