Totally curious here as to why you guys keep saying Aldi is cheaper.
We have almost weekly deals on Voucher with woolies (albeit big order t&c's, but 25% off) here, and if not voucher, there'll be coupon code, free deliveries, extra points. After all this taken into account, is Aldi really cheaper?
This! Aldi may be marginally cheaper on some things. Fairly equal on some things. Actually dearer on others. But they don't give you $50 bucks free ever. People who shop at Aldi exclusively probably don't even realise that Woolworths and Coles are literally throwing money at you to shop there regularly via targeted rewards offers. Play their game, shop the specials and take advantage of these rewards and you are way ahead of Aldi IMO .
I love their sprinter chips, so good. Especially the Cheese & Onion flavor, YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!
I find it really curious how some people are “ashamed“ to shop at Aldi (obviously not ozbargainers). I've had friends say that they wouldn't want to be seen there or to serve Aldi branded food to people coming over, in case they are branded "cheap". One person I know covered up their Aldi branded sardines as "bought them for the dog". Being Asian I don't understand this at all but can someone elaborate on the psychology?
Staff at ALDI never greet. Long queue at checkout. The store atmosphere is bad and looks cluttered.
Catalogue items sold out within 5 minutes.
Very bad quality items from unknown brand.
Boss bought a vacuum cleaner but the suction is not good due to leaks. I still believe the brand does matter for better quality.
I have a friend who works for Nestle, he said they use cheaper raw materials for third party brand.
I love their Greek yogurt which is way cheaper than Jalna at Coles/Woolies.
Aldi managers are known to visit forums such as this and spruik the Aldi ethos. They pay close attention to whats being said about the company.
On a side note I was at my local Aldi store and witnessed a young chap yell at an old lady all because she failed to push her shopping to the front of the belt. Needless to say I swiftly told him to pull his head in and that she wasn't an employee and to have more respect.
Also is a different shopping experience: no baskets, only large trolleys, smaller range of same products, less brands, different layout, weird centre aisle and weekly specials, lines at checkout, no bags, a repacking station, 4 staff in the whole store filling shelves, manning the checkouts.
But once you get used to the layout, checkout process… You know exactly what you want is where, get quickly get in and out. you know that a long line is not slow.
I'm in and out of Aldi far quicker than Coles/woolies for a full shop.
I think I prefer shopping at Coles the best: brighter store, more to see (offers), rewards with flybuys. But it takes far longer inside the store (doesn't feel it though) and I spend about 30-40% more.
2 weeks ago, we had dumb questions about cars on the front page.
Now we have dumb posts about Aldi.ADs are getting smarter…
Feels like an op shop
I love the 4 pack of scotch fillet steak for around " $20-$22 " these are a good size too, i like their Truss Tomatoes better " seem to last longer than woolworths " the lettuce mix is good also …. wine is also good price and quality …. and i love it when they do the mexican style dish's … like a kilo jar of jalapenos etc etc
This seems like forum thread revenge

Aldi chocolate? Merci? Divine & worth the visit alone.
Even their cheapest chocolate tastes great.
I love the Aldi taps from China that give you lead poisoning.

I was amazed at the battered fish- 8 for just $6 is incredibly cheap until I read it properly and saw it was a made in China product. Wheres the quality control?
