Super Fund where you can Choose the shares (e.g CBA, WBC, BHP) you want to buy?

Hi there,

I've been googling for hours and can't find the answer so thought I'd ask the trusty Ozbargainers

Is there such a thing as a superannuation fund anyone can join that you can choose the EXACT shares you want to buy?

I just want a simple account I can set up online, give my boss the super details to pay into then I can go in and say which shares (e.g CBA, WBC, BHP etc) I want to buy with that money?

Don't want to do any SMSF where I need to set up companies etc.

Would really appreciate any guidance. I'm currently with Intrust and I'm completely dissatisfied!

if you want to just invest in Australian shares you might want to consider just switching your intrust super plan to "Australian Shares"

But i would strongly advise that you get some independent financial advice before preceding

Wait it is what we call smsf if you want to pick yourself? If normal super allows that then everyone will become stock trader and lost all the super money in a month. That's the whole reason (for normal super fund) why you have to pick a fund with fund manager picking the shares.

  But has just recently increased its fees massively. Check Whirlpool for where people are switching to. I'm probably going to go with an SMSF.

    SMSF yearly accounting fees are usually less than $1,750 these days. Depending on the balance of your super, it is def an option.

      If you're willing to do some work yourself with a discount service provider such as esuperfund, you can come in around the $1000 mark according to some of the estimates in the ING threads on Whirlpool. However, there's no one size fits all with super, which is why I found the thread here useful

      Just be careful, you get what you pay for. We have heard a lot of bad stories about "discount" providers from our clients.

Wow thanks everyone.
Once again I'm blown away buy the incredibly amazing community that is Ozbargain.

Have checked out a few of those and I'm thinking I might be pretty hard pressed to get one up and running before EOFY tomorrow (unless you know otherwise!) but will do my best :)
