  • damn my Logitech Wireless Performance Mouse MX still going strong but temptep to upgrade

    • +3

Definitely a good upgrade at this price. Yes there's a MX Master 2 however benefits aren't that great IMHO.

      • What Pat said, wait it out MX Master 2S is coming. :D

        • +1

          What Pat said

ah, golferpat said pretty much the exact opposite…

(FWIW, I agree with golferpat for the most part - unless you are constantly running multiple machines, and would have particular use for copy and paste between machines)

        • @caprimulgus: Whoops a bit derp, but good choice either way

  • Is this the cheapest it has been?

    • It was $63.20 a while back but that lasted about 45 mins at that price, nothing lower since.

  • +1

Obligatory 'love my MX Master' comment. I only bought my last one because it was a good deal. I've since fallen in love with it and wish that I had one for work too.

    • Yeah only got mine a few weeks ago but using my mouse at work is a huge pain now. I was perfectly content with it before I got the Logitech for home.

  • Great mouse
Wish there was a way I can make the thumb scroll work for scrolling pages up and down (rather than the middle finger wheel).
Anybody know if this is possible?

    • Cant confirm for this mouse as i dont have it, but it may be possible by downloading the logitech software:

      Logitech Options

Logitech Options software lets you customize your device settings.

Logitech Options software lets you customize your device's settings as follows:

      Change function key shortcuts
      Customize mouse buttons
      Adjust point and scroll behavior
      Enable and disable touchpad gestures
Get on-screen notifications when your device's battery runs low or when you press a lock key

      https://support.logitech.com/en_au/product/mx-master/getting…

      • Yeah that's the first place I looked.
Horizontal is the only scroll option available.

        • No you definitely can set it up for other functions. I've got my thumb wheel setup for audio volume. Download logitech software, can change from there

        • Wow, that's kinda disappointing! I did buy one, and they a damn comfortable, but I took it back the next day cos of the "thumb" buttons were too far back and cramped for my thumb comfort.

        • @maddy86:
Yes of course, other functions are available, but these aren't scrolling functions.
Horizontal scrolling is the only scrolling option available (i.e. not vertical)

  • Thanks, been waiting for a drop in price for these. Bought 2 through Ebay. Used CashRewards.

  • This or Logitech M720 with AA battery? I prefer swapping rechargeable battery over using a cord to usb port to charge.
M720 rarely drops price. Right now it is more expensive than MX Master :-(
I have old Performance Mouse but left click stopped working properly, need to click 3-4 times for one effective click.

    • m720 was $19.95 and it's worth it with that price. But with the current price, I don't think so. My m720 got disconnected very often with mac. You can read review of people complaining about this issue. Logitech is not going to fix this. They claimed it's the mac fault.

  • MX Master 2S introduced in June is the new best! 9to5mac review

    • -1

Yeah looks like it'll be about 2.5x the price of this on release, but way better.

      • Yeah, MX Master is the 2nd best now and may be better than Apple Magic Mouse 2 for some Mac users.

        • According to the logitech website, the MX Master 2S is Optical. How is that better/worse then the Darkfield Laser of original MX.

          http://www.logitech.com/en-us/mice-pointers/mice/&view=498&c…

        • @FP: One possible difference is that MX Master 2S may not work on shiny surfaces (Lack of Darkfield technology), However, Advanced Optical Tracking processes more surface contrast and responds like a laser mouse. Logitech Tracking technology

        • +1

          @FP:

Ignore that comparison tool - it's completely wrong! (Mx Master uses 2.4Ghz wireless and does NOT have tilt wheel!)

The 2S has an upgraded Darkfield Laser. It will track better (but the Darkfield sensor in the MX Master is already pretty good).

The Logitech MX Master 2S and the Logitech MX Anywhere 2S feature an improved DarkfieldTM High Precision tracking, which boosts the mice cursor speed, accuracy and increases the resolution to 4,000 DPI so you can have the most versatile mouse at all times, no matter what screen you are using.

    • As per the review, if you run two machines simultaneously side by side, then you are probably better off with the MX Master 2S with Logitech Flow.

If you don't need Logitech Flow, then the MX Master should do fine. All the other improvements are just performance bumps (battery life, sensor DPI), which aren't going to be that noticeable anyway - the battery life and sensor on the Master are already fine.

      • +1

If you download Synergy you have Logitech Flow for any mouse or keyboard and works on Linux too.

You can still get it free from this post. I know it says Mac but the licence works for Windows too

  • Damn, just bought mx anywhere for $59 from GG 3 days ago. But finger couldn't hold for this price and clicked "Pay…"

    • It's dropped to $48 today at TGG so if you have concierge you can use the price shield to get a voucher for the difference, but you might have to wait for a competitor to put it to the same price to get a price guarantee otherwise.

Or buy another anywhere 2 on eBay and return it under your other receipt :)

  • Can the people who successfully price matched for the stone colour version post receipt 😁

    • Maybe message this guy and see if you can get his receipt.

  • This is a great mouse and at a superb price

I recently bought another one for work as the Dell one I was provided with is rubbish

  • Can't find a store that has any stock !

    • Yeah I can't see too many either, probably need to pay for shipping then or price match.

  • Hasn't this been the same price at jbhifi for ages?

    • It's only ever been $79 at JB.

  • Just price-matched at HN Springvale for $68. Looked like the last of two.

  • Good mouse, but the ratcheting free-spin mechanism thingy can malfunction. I had to fix mine the other day.

  • I picked this mouse up during the last deal for $63.20 I don't get all the hype re this mouse. I mean it's not a bad mouse but i much prefer the G502 i picked up over the weekend.

The three main gripes i had were:
Mouse pointer speed - with a max DPI of only 1600 I found it slow compared to the 1800 i was used to. I'm now using 3800 and it's superb with the G502.
I have fairly big hands, not massive but i always have to claw grip or my fingers run way over the edge of the buttons and i found as the mouse has a higher profile i was having to strain my fingers/wrist even further as the buttons sit higher.
Lastly the buttons aren't in the most accessible positions for ease of use.
The G502 also has more buttons in far more comfortable useful positions.

I think i may be the only person here who doesn't like this mouse.

  • I'm still on a wired mouse (G400). How do wireless ones compare today?
