Help with Buying Points and Booking Flights

I am looking at buying Krisflyer points – Australia to Europe Business Class but am very nervous about how all this works.

So I buy points from someone selling and then how do I book my flights? I don’t want the seller booking on my behalf as I would have to supply too much personal detail ie Passport Number etc.

Can the points get transferred to my Krisflyer account and I book?

Any advice would be appreciated. I do understand that this does contravene Singapore Airlines T&C’s and there are risks involved and want to better understand the system to decide if it is for me or not.

Can't help with the actual questions, but are you aware you can legitimately buy United points, and use them book SQ flights? Fairly in-depth article here.

I didn't think Krisflyer allowed points to be transferred to others, so would guess you have to give your details to book it for you.

As you say, seems a bit risky.

    • Thanks, I'll have a look at that

    • United points will be devalued on some routes soon so depends on your dates and destination, Also there is currently a promotion on purchasing SPG points which can be transferred 1:1 to Kirsflyer or heaps of other programs (need a SPG account for 12 days before being able to buy points). There is also plenty of other miles programs where you can legitimately purchase points and redeem for Singapore (star alliance) though if you want to fly first then you can only redeem these from Krisflyer.

As djkelly69 said, it can be done legitimately and may even be cheaper if you do your research.

  • Singapore Krisflyer miles cannot be transferred between members - end of story. Can book in anyones name though - they just have to be entered in as a redemption nominee.

Velocity Points (which can convert to Krisflyer miles at 1.35 velocity = 1 krisflyer can be transferred between family members, and then converted to Krisflyer miles in that persons name.

Both options have risks… its what you're comfortable with.

A note on the above point about United Points - not all SQ Availability is apparently available using United miles. That said, you can also book Thai using United miles, which allows 1 stop travel to Europe.

  • I thought you can transfer Krysflyer to Velocity or Velocity to Krysflyer but at every transfer you lose 15%.
Velocity you can transfer to family members (allowed) or try to buy or sell to non family members (possible but against their T&C - i.e. if you get caught they will close your account and cancel all your points)
