Car & Van Rental for Several Trips between: Adelaide & Outback SA

A friend tells me Thrifty's got a Price hierarchy:

Most Costly: Airport Thrifty; I get why: convenience
Moderately Costly: Franchise Thrifty; I don't get it
Least Costly: Non-Franchise Thrifty

Franchisee can FAIL to pass through national discounts!

Today, not knowing this would have cost me 12% discount.

It's not clear (yet) if past spends can cut costs of next/future rentals…?
CashRewards & other offers may apply.
Commercial vehicles attract 33¢/Km (after Free Km's) vs some non-Thrifty charging just 25¢/Km.
Km fees can be deal-killer!
Reducing Excess (I'm case of crash or other damage) can cost $22 / Day

WA's got a long term special: $12 / Day (for same)!

So, what do You know about Saving $$ when renting
Cars or [Moving] Vans (Adelaide <==> Outback SA)?

We may need to make several trips soon.

Let"s share what we know & SAVE!

  • Do quotes for where you want to pick the car up? Know how many KM you want to travel (roughly)? Don't limit yourself to just thrifty?

  • Try cut price auto at Mile End. Local company with very good rates. I think you generally save when you can use reputable local companies.

  • +1

When dumping bodies in the desert for my local bikie club I usually just hire a Bunnings trailer. They are cheap as. Bunnings also sell plastic drop sheets and shovels cheaply too. Give it a good hose out before you return and you're all good to go.

    • This is what happens when Le Cornu stop loaning Trailers when you buy Furniture.
