Logitech Wireless Gaming Headset G933 Vs G533 : Who Wins and Why?

Good Morning Everyone!

Has anyone ever owned either the:

Logitech G933 Wireless Gaming headset ($159.20)

or

Logitech G533 Wireless Gaming headset ($159.20)

Which headset would be the best pair to grab for an awesome wireless experience on console? Considering they are both the same price and similar, does anyone have a personal view on them?

EB Games currently have them price at $247 for the G933 and $187 for the G533, so I assume the G933 are the better?

I'm particularly after a good audio experience but wanting an upgrade to my current pair (Turtle Beach Stealth 400). Seems like either are a viable option. Both state that they have a noise cancelling boom mic, which is awesome. My 400's pick up so much background noise.

The G533 is a newer product, i believe, but has less features. They are also a bit smaller so if you have a larger head and/or ears go for the G933.

I just recently got the G933 from amazon and they are great. As with most wireless headsets though they can be a bit heavy so be aware of that, but so far I'm loving my G933. Replaced my old and crumbling G930.

    • Hey mate, thanks for replying to the thread! One can only read so many reviews but having someone who owns them makes all the difference. What is your primary means of gaming? Have you used them on console before? More importantly, how's the mic? Does it filter out background sound okay?

  • If they're the same price, go for the G933s, I love mine. It offers loads of connectivity options and can even mix multiple audio sources at the same time.

    Sources:
    * Wireless PC (via USB Dongle)
    * Wireless 3.5mm plug on the dongle
    * Direct 3.5mm plug on the headphone

As a test I just tried audio from all sources (Wireless PC, phone via dongle 3.5mm, Switch via direct 3.5mm) and they all played simultaneously.

One real world example may be to be on a phone call via direct 3.5 mm to the headset and be playing a pc game at the same time.

The 3.5mm jack on the dongle means that you can make any 3.5mm device wireless so long as you have USB power source. I've made my hifi receiver wireless using this method. A powerbank can make it wireless and portable.

I'm no audiophile but, the sound quality is fantastic. Leaps and bounds better than my old G930s. I haven't been on the receiving end of the mic but my friends on chat tell me it's clear.

I have tried connecting the USB dongle directly to my Xbox One with no success. If I want to use my headset with the Xbox One I would have to get an updated controller with 3.5mm or use an adaptor. This, obviously, would make it wired instead of wireless.

If you look the Logitech G933 help page you can see that true wireless with the G933 only works with the PS4.

If you want true wireless on Xbox One then you should look elsewhere, but if you're on PS4 then you should definitely grab the G933.

    • Hey Tony, thanks for your reply. I truly value your insight and in-depth analysis of the G933, I'm definitely leaning more towards these now. I do own a PS4 Pro, so does this mean dongle straight into USB port and it's true wireless?

Under $160 seems like a steal at this stage!

I'm not sure if you are able to test this, but does it pick up background noise/ breathing into mic? I noticed it has a boom mic, so hopefully not?

Yes, I believe it will be true wireless with the PS4 with the USB Dongle plugged in. You should also be able to mix another audio source in the 3.5mm jack on the dongle (if you wanted to have your own background music) or via the 3.5mm jack on the headset.

I got my headset for roughly $135 from Amazon UK, but I haven't been able to see it for that price again. under $160 from JB is a very good price for local, brick and mortar stock.

I can't test for background noise, sorry.

  • I picked up a G533 recently and have enjoyed them so far. They aren't too heavy, the band feel sturdy enough and the fabric on the ear pieces have been a nice change for me over the faux leather on my other ones. They do appear to switch off automatically or go into standby after a period of I guess no sound coming through which has both good and bad points to it. I can't speak for the clarity of the mic except that the first time I used it I did get some comments that it was a lot clearer than what I was using previously (Creative Stealth or Tactic something).

You can also pick the G533s up slightly cheaper from umart @ $145 http://www.umart.com.au/newsite/goods.php?id=38373

    • The G533's definitely look like a good pick up also, but at the same price there are quite a few people saying you can't go past the G933's. I have put both on hold at my local JB so will head in later today and see which feels better!

A couple of differences pointed out in the above article. Most notably for me not being an audiophile person would be the playstation compatibility if that's something you're in the market for.

        G533+
        Passive/Active Noise Cancellation
2 Microphones (1 on the G933 (Clearer Sound))
        Replaceable earpads
Impedance 320 Ohms (390 Ohms on the G933 - Lower is better (Less resistance more volume))

        G933+
40mm Drivers (32mm Drivers on the G533 - Higher is better (Base))
        Dolby Digital
        Playstation compatibility
        3.5mm Cable Connection
        Battery Level indicator

        • Well considering my PS4 will be the place I use them on, I think the G933's are for me? :P
