Noted it's not a continuing plot. Playing the first games add value and background, but they are not required.

Nope its better with the controller at least to me but i feel the general community would agree
all of them including Demon Souls are great but avoid the temptation to read guides online

do you reckon its worth playing them in order 1-2-3 if you have never played it. (Esp taking into account limited gaming time. i.e. may only end up playing 3 in a few years if i start with 1)
