Had tickets in stalls, row O. It was fantastic and well worth it. Seats were great.

I think Stalls in the first few rows (preferably not too much to the sides but more in the middle) is a good compromise between value for money and great seating area. After the first few rows, it becomes the Premium area, costing more.

I personally find rows after the Premium area (which is back to A-Reserve seating), to be a bit too far from the stage, although this is probably down to personal preference. I like to be able to see the expressions of actors and their intricate acting movements. I also like to hear their natural voices, and anywhere too far back, you are listening to their voices from the speakers. While some venues (e.g The Art Centre Melbourne) have brilliant speakers, that cannot be said of all venues, and so the amplified sound (has some distortions) may not sound as nice as the natural voices. Hence, my preferred seating being Stalls in the front rows.

I watched this show in the 1st and 2nd row on separate occasions. To me, it seems the stage was raised a bit (maybe due to the dancing) as opposed to other shows I watched at this venue. Therefore, 2nd row seems better than 1st. I think any rows from 2nd row and back, before the premium area, would strike a good balance between value and good seating.

    Hope this helps.

what I mean is: perhaps due to extensive dancing, an extra layer of stage dance floor put down, raising the stage level slightly …

Wouldn't recommend the cheap $75 tickets at the very top of the theatre. Because you're up so high looking down on the stage, the person sitting in front of you's head is in your direct line of vision. Had to tilt my head to the left for the whole performance. Ouch.
    Theatre needs redesigning.

  • Anyone bought the restricted view tickets? How restricted is it?

  • i saw Aladdin a few weeks ago and thought it was rubbish. Jasmine seemed like a secondary character, Aladdin's accent kept changing. If it wasn't for the Genie, and maybe Jafar, I would have walked out

IMO, Book of Mormon is 100 times better

  • PS apparently my in laws just got scammed by some fake tickets from a website. Don't know the name yet. Claimed $65pp but they just got charged for $300pp. Then they turned up and sat down, and other groups of people turned up with the same seat number. Apparently it's been making the rounds, and the theatre has had to called a whole bunch of seemingly legit ticket numbers

    Buyer beware I suppose

    • Oh my goodness! Good cautionary tale - just buy from well-known operators.
So did they manage to see the show - given the seats were claimed by others?
As for the ridiculous charge, I suppose they can do a credit card chargeback.

Hope they get a satisfactory resolution from this unfortunate incident.

      • Nope didn't see the show. They got removed from the theatre by staff and were supremely embarassed and extremely annoyed at being treated pretty poorly by these staff for a mistake mostly out of their control!

        But yes, reputable sites only!

  • It’s amazing to get here and we’re so excited to be in this fun town
