I have owned my Sportage for about 3 weeks and love it. I currently use android auto and think it's ok but I am due to upgrade my phone and was thinking of getting an iPhone and friends have told me that CarPlay is much user friendly. What does everyone think?

My car has both option plus built in SATNAV, I use Spotify for music. I prefer the Apple CarPlay cleaner interface
Used CarPlay in my Golf for about 6 months and then changed over to Android Auto after getting the Pixel.
Personally I prefer Android Auto much more. It gives you all the information you want on the home screen, Google Maps is far better than Apple maps and you can receive WhatsApp messages. Voice recognition I found better on Android Auto as well.
Nothing beats siri
Apple CarPlay is actually better, but Google Maps is better than Apple Maps.

Google Maps is far superior to Apple Maps, but I find CarPlay to be much more stable than AA.
Do you suffer from the Google Maps lag issue that other Sportage owners are suffering?
I know I do. The issue doesn't appear to be resolved yet.
That alone may help to steer you in the Apple direction - especially if you do longer trips.

For voice recognition and maps you're best off with Android.
