I'm looking at buying a 250cc bike, but I'm just wondering what the fees and stamp duty in Victoria are made up of, the bike itself costs $3,499 (reduced from $4,499) and "registration incl all fee's and stamp duty is $750". What is that $750 made up of?
Presumably, it's partly made up of "Engine capacity from 126cc to 500cc (Levy) $499.10"?
(I know I can just ask the sales person but I wanted an objective opinion)
Yeah it just doesn't add up:

$3,499 / $200 = 17.49
17.49 * $5.40 = $94.47
Stamp duty? $94.47 + $499.10 = $593.57
What is the $156.57?
I assume this is a new bike? Look here.
But jesus, $500 to register a 250cc bike is a ripoff.
