MYER - AMERICAN TOURISTER Lock N Roll Hardside Spinner Case Large 75cm. $120.12 (In Store Only), Was $429

410

I went to my local Myer store this afternoon and was looking for a suitcase. I showed the sales lady the online price of the AMERICAN TOURISTER Lock N Roll Hardside Spinner Case Large 75cm: https://www.myer.com.au/shop/mystore/home/luggage-travel-goo…

She approached me and asked if she can help. Then, I told her that I was about to place an order to pick up in stock because I can use the anniversary20 code for a further discount. I was surprised that she told me there is an extra 30% discount on the already reduced price and it brings down the price to $120.12. Only applicable to the Sunshine Yellow and Skydiver Blue colours. I bought one without hesitation. Receipt

Good luck if you can get one.

Just in case people don't know, American Tourister is a Samsonite brand.

Just in case people don't know, that colour scheme is more likely to be Australian Tourister

  • What is this extra 30% sale called?

    • She just told me 30% extra discount, probably a part of Super Saturday Sale

      • Damn it, I'm at work still so won't be able to make it on time if it's only today :(.

The 30% extra discount works on other items too?

  • Do you have email regarding anniversary20?

    • No I don't, just mentioned the code

    Damn, that's ugly.

Well you definitely know that no one will be interested in stealing your suitcase…

    • +12

actually, I don't mind the colour, also it's easy for me to spot my luggage at the airport

      • That's true. Waiting to pick up a black luggage that looks similar to every other person can be a bit of a pain.

    • Agree. Easy solution is to buy a nice looking (say black or dark grey) suitcase cover (generally made of thick fabric) from somewhere Asia (India, China, Thailand, Bangladesh etc) when you travel there next. They are quite cheap in these countries and available in various sizes. Not sure of other countries, but in India any tailor will even custom-make it for you for a fraction of the price of suitcase ;)

    • I have a black hard case and a fluro-yellow case. Guess which is easier to spot on the airport luggage carousel?

      • +5

        i know! i know! …the black one?

      • +10

That depends on the airline. For some airline, you will spot none.

    4.6kg? Seem heavy

  • Been using one of these for years for high frequency international work trips. Love it so much I have repaired it 3 times. Hard wearing, clasps > zips.

    • +1

Bright colours = easy to spot with jetlag.

    • Where did you get it repaired? Isn't it top expensive here for the price of suitcase itself?

    • Out of interest, what broke?

      • +1

Telescopic handle got crushed twice in transit, so had it repaired by Qantas agent. Also replaced the wheels which had worn out (bought spares from Samsonite directly).

  • wait, is it in shops only or..? how do we go about getting the price down to 120?

    • In store only, just ask the cashier to scan the price I think. The sale lady scanned the price ($171.60) and applied 30% discount and I just paid.

  • Is this additional 30% only for this model?

  • +1

Much prefer these than them shoddy zipper ones most tend to use these days. I have one myself and been doing well indeed.

    • REEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

  • has anyone else had success getting it at this price? I want to head in store but it looks like a manual discount to me?

  • For those avid eyed, same luggage case used in Robin Schultz's 'Sugar' music video

    • +1

      That is…. very random.

      • +1

        I just farted…

  • Have one of these in that color. Easy to spot. Filled it with 32kilos of books on an international long haul… No damage after 30 hours on 3 planes. Great case. We tape the telescopic handle with gaffa to stop the baggage handlers using that handle to lift it. They can break it there. Otherwise very durable

    • Who needs a change of clothes to travel anymore?

      • That's what the other two cases were for ;)

  • Where's the gorilla?

  • Check the fine print of the warranty. Specifically their 'exclusions'…

    • Airlines are required to cover damage caused in transit from the time you drop off until the time you take your luggage and leave the airport. After taking the luggage from the carousel inspect handles, wheels etc and if there is any damage declare it at the airport before you leave. Technically handles and wheels are not covered but some shops will repair anyway under insurance.
The airport will issue you with an insurance claim form and the location of a luggage shop.

Most shops will replace your luggage with a "like" product which may be more expensive than the damaged one. At Melbourne (Near Vic Market) in the past, they tended to repair where possible and replace where not
this may be determined by length of stay)- Under new ownership now and my last case was replaced last Xmas no questions asked.

I've had at least 3-4 cases replaced and 2 repaired in the last 15 years (one being the handle on a Samsonite hard shell very early model of the one above, now more than 15 years old and still going yearly to Europe and back)
