What exactly is the purpose of the 1st option?

    • Yeah I think that should be removed, especially because multiple votes aren't permitted.

also "My phone DOES NOT have band 28" seems redundant when there are the following options:

      • My phone doesn't have band 28 and I wish it did
      • My phone doesn't have band 28 and I'm fine without it
  • Do the needful

    • +2

      Yes, hello sir.
I have kindly done the needful.
I would appreciate if you can do the same on your end.
      Warm regards.

      • I need the doful

  • Important options are missing, just to make the survey complete: (1) My phone does have band 28 and I wish it didn't, (2) I don't have a smartphone.

Im in Japan and recently bought a ZTE axon 7 from china for a good price. its an awesome phone, but lacking the band 28 puts me to a huge disadvantage. I have a Docomo sim, and without band 28 i get 1 bar of reception and i cant get reception at all at my desk. i have to stand near the window. it uses 2100mz and 800mz (whatever bands they are) and it gets me good reception in the city, but i live and work rurally and need it more.
Band 28 seems to be a really effective and highly used/prioritized frequency, and without it, im worse off.
Now i have to hope for a firmware update from ZTE that will improve frequencies on the other 2 bands i have and overall reception. i guess band 28 is modern and common, hence the praise and dependency.

    • Thanks DarthAntz,

You're in Japan…. Do your comments relate to using the phone in Japan or Australia?

      • +1

Japan. my network Docomo and a lot of australia phone networks use the same bands, so my comments relate to using/needing a band 28 phone.
My previous Docomo phone had band 28 and was a Japanese phone (xperia z3 compact, SO-02G) and had excellent reception. Today im using it as a wifi hotspot for the ZTE phone, as im on a data only plan. my contract is almost up and i:ll change carriers in the hope its better reception. it:ll definitely be cheaper than docomo (japanese telstra).
I would recommend getting band 28, for the superior reception.

        • Thanks DA. That explains it.
I love tech, but it can get complicated.

Quite likely that your current phone doesn't have Band 28… if you're happy with your current reception, then phones without Band 28 should remain on your shopping list.
If you have reception issues, then maybe check coverage maps for Band 28 coverage before assuming it'll improve things.

    • Thank you scubacoles.
      That is helpful info

My phone doesn't have band 28 but its also a good idea to check the carrier i.e telstra, optus etc if they will support the other bands the phone does have. http://willmyphonework.net/ is a great resource and helped me determine the best phone model for the carrier I'm on.

Not very accurate though. I bought my wife a OnePlus 3T and she is on Lebara. The website says 4G isnt supported but Lebara uses the vodafone network and I can see the 4G signal available on the phone

      • Thanks edrenalin. Its good to know personal experiences with this..

Where's the option: I am with Vodafone and they don't have B28. They just bought spectrum but only have B1/3/5 so far.

    • I didn't realise that. So that would mean that even if you have a phone with band 28 but a Kogan or other Vodafone sim, reception can be effected…

      • +1

Correct Band 28 is Optus and Telstra only for now. But just a couple of months ago Vodafone purchased a small amount of the B28 frequency so they could roll it out in the future.

        • Thanks sylon. Perhaps that's why the huge, ongoing Kogan sim sales…

I get reception issues at a local major shopping centre, but my girlfriend has no problem. We're both with Virgin (Optus). One time I checked what band her iPhone 6 was connected to … sure enough Band 28! My Galaxy S6 no have. Will upgrade sooooonish

    • Thanks BigBirdy. That's just the sort of info I'm in need of
