Missing airline transfers

Hi, i am going overseas and need a few connections to get to my final destination.

The cheapest options I can find through iwanthatflight and Momondo etc use different airlines for the legs, and have quite short transfer times. I know if a flight is delayed and you miss a connection it is fine if they are booked through the same airline as they will put you on the next flight. But does hat also apply if they are all booked together through somewhere like bestjet or similar but on different airlines??

Thanks

read the flight terms and conditions.

  • If you look at MatrixITA Multi-city search and plug in your Flight(s) it will warn you if your connections are Short connection or Risky connection in the Advisory Column.

  • When booked together on the same PNR, you will mostly be covered. However, some online agencies will let you book together, but behind the scenes book separately with eachh airline on different airline. In that case, you are not covered. This is mostly when LCC airlines are involved.

Make sure you check the Ts & Cs for the ticket before purchasing.

  • What are the airlines that have been recommended?

  • Also check travel insurance on your CC. They'll often have clauses covering for delays/missed transfers.

  • Ask your travel agent.

  • Thanks for the replies - seems like it is a grey area. I was just going to book online but have contacted a travel agent for peace of mind, who say they will match the price.

  • Yes talk to the travel agent. From what you have said, I wouldn't do it. Flights are very often delayed. Also if not booked as a through flight you would probably have to collect checked baggage and recheck it in and you would have to go through Immigration X 2.
