Transmitting Audio from My TV to BOSE Bluetooth Speakers

Hello All,

Sorry if I am duplicating a post already but I am looking for a good cheap solution for the problem I have. I have a cheap noname TV which comes with USB and HDMI ports with ARC as well. However the sound quality from TV is frustating…

I have recently purchased a BOSE SoundLink Mini II Bluetooth speakers which are amazingly good in sound quality and as such I am curious to connect these 2 and get the TV audio from BOSE Speakers.

The problem I have is the Source (TV) although is a smart TV doesn't have any built BT feature which I could use to connect it to BOSE speakers. Is there a solution for this problem? Can I buy a cheap BT dongle and connect it to TV? Will that help transmitting Audio from My TV to BOSE Bluetooth Speakers?

Is this any good ?

  • I would imagine the TV has a headphone jack (most do) if so just use a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable to connect from the headphone jack to the aux input on the SoundLink Mini:

I wouldn't bother with bluetooth on a TV that doesn't have it built in you'll have connectivity issues pairing it each time and even if it does work there will be a noticeable audio delay which will cause the image to be out of sync with the sound.

Keep it simple, just run a cable and be done.

If you don't have the dock for the mini i'd get that and leave it connected and charging ready to go when you want to go portable.

    • thanks mate, your solution did actually work but it is degrading the ability of BOSE to deliver the sound it can.. and as such, I dont want BOSE to under perform but thanks…

      • If you are finding the sound isn't what you are expecting hard wired i would not expect it to sound any better over Bluetooth. Bluetooth compresses the audio to transmit and is a lossy format (as in loses information from the original source). Anyway keep us updated how you get on, be interesting to see how it performs with a Bluetooth adaptor.

        • I completely agree with you - Looks like I have to live with that sound (wired) - no longer interested in wireless since I can imagine how the sound quality will be.. Thanks..

  • Old TV likes yours most likely has a headphone jack. The solution above is probably the best to guarantee lossless audio quality. BT tends to reduce the audio quality. However, this could potentially due to the quality of headphone/speaker. I tested it on a cheap BT headphone and can hear slightly poor audio quality. Bose makes BT headphone and sold a lot of them so I would assume high end products don't have this quality issue. As for delay, I didn't find that a problem. BT technology seems to have catch up.

I am recently trying to find a solution to my smart TV. It has a built in bluetooth but it cannot pair with a BT headphone for whatever reason. I contacted panasonic. No one could give me an answer of why it can pair with BT soundbar (as advertised but not tested by me) but not a headphone. My solution is to connect it through a BT dongle. Unfortunately, it doesn't get me far due to me realising that my smart TV only has optical OUT! Both dongles that I bought only have audio and/or RCA connection (bought two by accident). I am trying to sell them now so i can buy one that has optical out connection.

  • I managed to connect my bose headphones to my tv by buying a Avantree Saturn Pro bluetooth transceiver/ receiver. This bluetooth adapter plugs into the 3.5mm jack and is rechargable via micro USB.

    • hey , are you talking about this device ?

      • Yes, avantree is a known brand. I bought the cheapy (still $20) from ebay aus stock.
