TV or Monitor Which One Is Better for Eye Protection
Comments
TV's and monitors are almost the same thing… however, a cheap LCD TV might not be made to the same specifications as a mainstream office LCD monitor. E.g a cheap Kogan might not have 4:4:4 Chroma sub-sampling support. Why does it matter?
LCD monitors nowadays have flicker-free backlighting, so look for those.
Some LCD panels use Pulse width modulation (PWM) backlight control — they dim the screen by pulsing the backlight on and off rapidly at anywhere from 100hz to 200hz.. This is obviously a cheaper, cruder way of dimming the display but at the expense of viewing comfort.
Asides from viewing distance, you also need to consider taking some short breaks, letting your eye rest for short periods and also making sure your brightness / gamma settings are correct, and that the brightness of your monitor should match your room. You might want to watch Linus Tech Tip's guide on Computer ergonomics As fast as possible for some tips on that too.
Have you tried these?
https://www.dickiesworkwear.com/en/workwear/safety-products/…Neither of them are harmful as far as electromagnetic radiation. Or light as some people call it.
However using screens at a short distance for long periods for a long time may lead to vision changes (which can be corrected with glasses).
why would either be bad for your eyes?
Monitors are usually higher-quality panels than TV's, so they COULD be safer.
But none of that really matters, what matter is:
- exposure time
- viewing distance
- set brightness
- set colour warmness
- ambient light pollution
- rate of blinking
- eye dryness
- geneticsDon't you want any eye babies?
Well according to evolution the more your use something the more it evolves to become more stronger and better :P
Neither are suitable as PPE.
Neither give you "eye protection". You're in the wrong area. Head on over to the Tools section.

If you're that worried, wear some safety glasses and a rubber glove.
one thing a lot of monitors have now are blue light filters which interferes with sleeping patterns especially the closer you are to heading to the land of NOD
I don't thing Oz bargain have any scientist to answer your question. Google it?
Usually viewing distance play a big role.
