This is gold! I was lamenting the age of my Van Huesen's just this morning.

5 new ones on their way!

      • +1

I followed your footsteps as Mr. Gradgrind, 5 on the mail. Thanks to @Maltopia and special Thanks to @doweyy.
@Maltopia: Please include the coupon in the OP.

        • +1

No worries, I gave OP a bit of time to update themselves but I went and edited it myself now for clarity. Didn't want to vandalise OP's deal originally.

        • +1

@doweyy: Awesome, that'd help to score the additional discount. I almost missed it as well ;)

Would be a good deal of VH short sizing was more consistent. I have experienced in the past buying a few of the same cut same sized shirts from them and finding that some would be significantly tighter than others.

    • shirts, not shorts.

    • +2

Yeah. It's a real lucky dip with this brand. Ten and twenty years ago you knew what you would get.

      • +1

Totally agree. The fit and material is no where near as good as Charles Tyrwhitt or TM Lewin. A lot of their shits aren't even 100% cotton

    • +1

Had the same experience. Cuts seem random. Sleeve length and cuff sizes also inconsistent.

  • +2

5 for $105 + %8 cashrewards is pretty good. I might suss out my local Myer for size then order online :)

I'd love a deal for Van Halen business shirts

  • +1

    Can anyone comment on quality?

    • IMO quality is second to none. Ever since I bought these Van Heusen shirts from Myers, It's been the best shirt ever in terms of quality and fit.

I recommend you go to Myers or Van Heusen shop just to try them on to find the best fit for you.
As someone who goes gym, I highly recommend the European fit because slim fit your arms might be tight and waist baggy. The European fit looks very classy, business professional and sleek.

A $25 shirt's quality is second to none?

I did some research and apparently it's hard to not to beat VH in quality. Think I'll go with Brooks Brothers instead. Thanks for the view though.

        • +1

Yeah a $25 polycotton shirt is second to none lol.

      • +1

        What else do you own?

      • +2

Meh.. VH have gone down hill big time. TM Lewin / CT is much better (esp) when on sale IMO. Their Euro/Slim fit is a great fit for me and is a proper slim cut shirt.

    • My partner usually picks up these shirts in the Myer/David Jones sales. They have lasted well. He said he never finds issues with loose threads on buttons on these and the fit is good (he goes slim fit though).

    • +1

      great question.
      Thanks to all who commented.

VH used to be good, sounds like they've gone down the path of 'just buy the cheapest crap and sell it under the brand and hope people are mindlessly loyal'

  • Do vh have iron free range

    • I don't know if they're Iron free but I do know that the European fit is "wrinkle free". I still iron them though and takes half the time than my Calvin Klein or Blaq shirts.

    • Yes, called easy care. Looks like they aren't listing it as that though, it's the ones that are 60% cotton, 40% polyester.

    • most are "easy care", cotton poly blend, so hang on a coat hander to dry and they just need a very light iron.

I preffer the 100% cotton, still easy to iron but seem to be better in our warmer climate.

  • Thanks OP I could probably say I scored myself a bargain. How?

Had Paypal credit from selling an unused item on gumtree that had been sitting around for years ($37 credit)

Cashrewards + promo code + free shipping brought five ($70) shirts to $105.

    With 8% cashback = $96.60
    With Paypal credit = $59.60

Therefore it cost me a total $59.60 for 5x $70 shirts delivered!

Fallacy. Thinking that Paypal credit is not your money (and hence treating it as a coupon) is a fallacy.

      You could:
      1. Use it on something else.
      2. Withdraw it from your Paypal balance.

So you are still paying $96.60 after cashback (though your inclusion of your cashback is correct).

      • +1

Yeah sorry was a little too excited. Should've said it cost me $96.60 which is still a good deal for 5 shirts delivered.

  • -1

just brought 2 van heusen shirts at costco for $10 each

    • -1

      actually? Can anyone else confirm?

      • I've had a similar experience a few years ago, normally they're around 21-25 at costco.

      • +1

yes actually, it's $9.97 at auburn costco down from $19.97, but it is euro fit.

  • +2

Why would anyone want to look like Milhouse?

    • Eat my shirts!

  • Problem is stock for me …… wanted classic fit 41 100% cotton …nice is that they have a pocket.. hardly any options and ended up with 4 off the same check shirt …… now my colleagues probably think I wear the same shirt 4 days in a row ………..

Van Heusen are great in having various collar and sleeve lengths but I do find them limited in the 100% cotton shirt and the poly cotton puts them in the kmart / target segment, and the brand has cheapened.

Wish they had more 100% cotton shirts as other brand in 100% cotton are very expensive.

  • +1

How do they compare to CT Shirts and/or Thomas Pink?

    • They don't. VH is Myer "home brand" garbage.

Go MJ Bale/CT in this price range.

      • isnnt CT in the $40 range

        • Yeah. Look you're going to get what you pay for with this deal.

        • @The Quote Train:
Horses for courses, I guess. If you budget is $25/shirt then this is pretty good deal I think.
You get what you pay for with any deal

    • their classic fit has a shirt pocket which is handy for a pen, sunlglasses or to hide your work tag so people don't see who you work for when down the street ….. shirts without a pocket …… sometimes it's too warm for a jacket.

  • Good deal, however if you guys wants to try them on first, go to Myer. There's a sale on at the moment too, some of their shirts are going for $35. I just bought them from there in the end since it was already worth it.

  • Dude…. thanks just bought 5 slim fits… ideally would like non iron one but beggars cant be choosers.

  • Hmm.. no button down collars, and no VH branding (the tiny 3 colour "flag" bit on the chest pocket similar to Tommy Hilfiger) on these sale shirts.. thats disappointing.

  • Van Heusen is at the bottom, like old navy. you have better options with other brands, no one wears this in America. spend a little more and get a lot more out of your shirt. I like brooks brothers and charles tyrwitt a lot, and they last a lot longer.

    Top - Banana Republic
    Mid - Gap
    Bottom - Old Navy

  • I've had to buy from YD, etc recently cause I can't find shirts with back darts anywhere else. Anyone know of anywhere else making shirts taken in at the back for us Y shaped gym folk?

  • What's difference? - Slim fit, Euro fit, Classic fit?

    • Skinny, average, and fat.

      Mmmmmm Classic Fit…….
