Electronic Skateboard Recommendations

Hey, so I have a dog that is very proactive and in order to keep him exhausted throughout the day, I need to tire him out with exercise. The only problem is I'm time poor and don't like jogging with my dog. My jogging days are over but I do walk over 15 thousands steps a day. So I have the options of Biking, Scootering or Skateboarding. All 3 are feasible options however the slope in my area are very steep and it's very difficult to get over hills without a motorised engine. So I looked over electric bikes, scooters and skateboards and concluded that skateboards are the most suited option. Bikes being to big, bulky to transport and expensive. Scooters that have motors are too unsafe to ride with my dog. Electric Skateboards are at a reasonable cost, have good mileage and are very portable. However it's fairly new in Australia and I don't know which one I should buy.

I looked at
Boosted Board
Juiced Board

So if you have any good recommendations that would be nice

Check Casey's video BOOSTED BOARD REVIEW https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zDZ3clucMI

  • Support the Aussie version… Evolve GT

    • Yeah considering them. Only problem is no replacement batteries

Not that anybody's I'd probably going to stop riding them or get fined, but are these thing legal to use on public land? Segway, hover boards and other powered 'toys' aren't.

  • Have a look at stary, theyre a bit cheaper than both Boosted and Evolve. They use a different motor config (uses helical gears instead of a belt) which gives it a stealth look. So any trouble with the cops etc you can tell them its a drum brake.

They started as a kickstarted a few years ago, and seemed to have worked out their shipping issues.
Best email them to confirm australia is still included in shipping.

Do you already longboard? Do you have a deck preference?
Boosted use a really flexible deck thats great for absorbing road vibration, but can be a bit sketchy over speedbumps etc.
Evolve though more powerful, are clearly recognisable as an electric board, ergo, larger chance of being fined for using it.

Just on this, how are you differentiating a scooter motor from a longboard? You may find the same issues with the longboard motors

    • Because the scooters with electric motors are not flexible like a longboard. They require specific scooters for dogs with the big wheels but there arent any with electrical motors on them.

      • Not sure what wheel size has to do with it, but good luck with your search!

        • @sunnyc: I understand that scooters come with big wheels, was more unsure as to why a longboard had any advantage purely based on wheel size. Longboards actually have smaller wheels, the max diameter is under 10cm.

I can see from the link that those scooters have leashes attached, wouldnt you just be able to hold the leash on an electric scooter as you ride like you would on the board anyway? You'd still need a remote in the other hand on the board as it is.

One other thing to consider is the hill gradient in your area, longboard braking is good, but you may be unbalanced especially if your trying to hold onto a dog at the same time. There is also max hill gradients to think about.

          Thats my 2c anyway

        • Thanks for the suggestions mate

  • Can't you buy a treadmill and hook it up to the National Electricity Grid?
South Australia would be most appreciative.

    • You need a manual treadmill and the weight isnt enough for dogs. But South Australia citizens should just buy a commercial powerwall and share between each other.
