Well with the new 2017 version of the MBP's with the Kaby Lake processors releasing, merchants are starting to reduce the prices of the 2016 models as they reach the end of their cycle.
If you're not too fussed about the new processor, then purchasing a 2016 version can save you nearly 800$! Besides the processor upgrade from Skylake to Kaby Lake, the models are identical.
There's a few options I've seen, but iFrog seems to be the cheapest at the moment, and thus also Officeworks technically (Who are offering it at the clearance price of 3150 without any price matching FYI, but seems to be available to order online only, at least in WA).
Also, Myer has a similar price at 3014$ https://www.myer.com.au/shop/mystore/electrical/mac-all/macb…. Maybe this will be an alternative option if you want reward points through Myer, or would rather purchase physically, or if iFrog run out of stock.
If you'd rather purchase directly from Apple, the refurbished models are down to 3059$.
Vaya also has a similar price on eBay with the 20% off coupon but is a grey import so nowhere near as good a deal.
If you're patient, perhaps some more heavily discounted prices will come once stores actually start stocking the 2017 models? I don't think any stores have stock until next week.
You may also be able to get ~5% off gift cards for Officeworks or Myer if you have any memberships or anything that allow you to do so
Does anyone know if you can bargain at all with Myer? Maybe some stores you can get the price even lower considering it's at the end of its cycle?
*FYI, this price is for the standard/lowest specced 256gb MBP. MBP's with different specs are similarly discounted
I hope posting this deal doesn't come back to bite me lol. My 2010 MBP is reaching the end of its life, so it's time for me to upgrade to a new 15" model, but I won't have the funds to purchase one until the end of next week D: Fingers crossed I don't have to pay more than 2800 :P
