No annual fee rewards credit cards (not Anz,Nab, steerage Amex)?

Hi all. I'm in the 12 month Anz limbo time. Currently also have nab, stgeorge amplify and Amex plat edge. Westpac no longer have a no annual fee first year black. Any ideas on some other cards, even lower tier cards to keep accumulating points with?

  • Go Mastercard… kind of.. it doesn't have annual fees, BUT you have to have $0 balance at the end of your cycle, if not then they charge you $5 monthly fee. So I guess there is annual fees, but avoidable.

  • I know you want to avoid an annual fee but there are not many other good deals out there which you are not currently in the waiting period for. This isn't a bad deal for a $149 annual fee, newly launched Qantas Premier card:

  • I am with american express essential. $0 annual fees. When I first joined, I was targeting AMEX promotions rather than rewards. However, recently I just discovered that I can redeem the points as payment for my transaction, with the rate of 1000 points = $7.41. It's much better return rate compared to flybuys that I collect from my Coles Reloadable Prepaid Mastercard. (AMEX - 0.741% compared to Flybuys (2000 points for $10) - 0.5%), so naturally it has become my main payment card at the moment, not to mention it supports android pay.

The cons for this card is the ratio of conversion between AMEX Gateway points to other airline FF points. (AMEX: FF = 4:3). But with 0 annual fees, I am not complaining about that. As usually I am not a big spender to justify the annual fees.
