Which Smartwatch Should I Buy?

Iam looking to buy a smartwatch. Budget is around the $100 mark.
Any suggestions?

Edit: I am using a galaxy s7e. I can go upto $150. Features that I want, off the top of my head are ability to answer calls, read messages and change songs.

  • Hello, first thing first… are you normally a watch person?

    • Yes.

        then don't get a smartwatch

        they are a PITA

        • Im a watch guy, I have everything (almost 70 watches) and the only disapointment is the smartwatch in my collection alas.

BUT if you want to get an asian fitness tracker that tells the time, go for it. Id rather not count steps but ware a nice watch. Makes me happy!

        • @srhardy:

          Agreed

They are a good idea that don't actually work

A good phone and a good watch are a great combination

          Two jobs, two items

          My 2c

        • @oscargamer: Indeed smartwatches as a category feature things not working such as calorie counting, sleep tracking and step tracking.

        • @oscargamer:

          Already a good option

$100 can't get you very good watches if brand new. Maybe look at those Chinese branded ones which go for $30-80 range

    • What did u have in mind if I am ready to spend more? And how much more are we talking.?

It depends on your personal preference and style. I would recommend Huawei w1, moto360 2nd, or Lg watch r

  • Spend more money. There is only one game in town.

Ah, I see. Thanks for the explanation :)

        • The Apple watch is the only one that does work.

        • @PVA: Well it doesn't matter anyway, he has $150 to spend. That's not even a night out.

This website has some good reviews: https://www.wareable.com You should head to a Samsung store and check out their range. Maybe a Gear S2 on eBay?

    • Cheers. Will have a look

Really? You're gonna be that one person that talks into his watch to answers calls on loud speaker?

Read messages? Smart watches have tiny screens and become really cumbersome to read and scroll. Its great for a little ping for a notification like a phone call that you put on silent and cannot feel in your pockets or bag.

Change songs? Sure if you just want to press Next/back is fine, but don't bother search up songs on the smart watch.

Smart watches are still a niche market. They sound cool but the reality is just a problem to a solution IMO. Battery will be your biggest enemy. FYI I had the original Kickstarter Pebble ages ago for fun. It was cool device in theory but to recharge it became a bothersome. Constant Vibrating Notifications can drain your battery quickly and became annoying. Reading on it was pointless. If anything Smart watches should only be used for glancing for info. That's my 2 cents

    • What I want to do is answer the call on the watch and talk through my earbuds. I hope that's possible. Anyways thanks for your input.

Why not just use your earbud with your phone then? Why does the watch need to be involved?

        • So I dont need to take my phone out of my pocket to answer the call.
Look I understand that it is not an essential gadget to have as I already have a smartphone.

You obviously think that they are useless and thats fine. I just want to give them a go. I still might get a moto or a huawei watch if a deal comes through. :-)

        • @titan0r:

I've had the first two Pebbles, and tried a few Android Wear watches too (360, Zenwatch 2) and went back to the Pebble - battery lasts up to a week, you can respond to SMS by voice, and you can basically screen notifications and shut up the ones you hate.

          I really like it.

I liked the functionality of the Android watches, but I hated needing to charge them everyday. Pebble I need to charge not very often.

Answering calls on the Android watches is a little lame.

Pebble is limited, but that's what's great about it - doesn't do too much. However, it is now unsupported because it was bought by Fitbit and killed instantly.

I'd happily buy an Android wear watch if the battery life doubled - until this time, it feels a little like being held back. I guess I'll keep using the Pebble until it stops working.

The deal for the Huawei W1 the other day was incredible - $88!

  • I am in the same boat.
My first one, which I am currently using is Moto 360.
Absolutely love it - cant complain for what I wanted it for- count steps, read msgs, change songs on the go, etc.

The only draw back now is that the battery is not lasting and has dropped from 1.5 day to 1 day with minimal use, so looking for another one.

Was looking at Asus 2, (not 3) due to the price as I want to spend no more than 150.

If you have bought one OP, let me know how you went with it
