I have decided it's time to get a new laptop/tablet for upstairs as we haven't really had anything outside the study other than our phones for the past three years. With the new Surface Pro releasing in a little over a week, I figured it would be a great time to get ahead of the tech, and now that its entering its 5th gen, I believe the it will be a much more capable and reliable product.
My question though is where to buy it from? I've noticed HN has 12 months interest free at RRP, JB is selling for a few dollars under RRP, and the Microsoft Store has an education discount. Are these my only options?
If so, I'm thinking direct from MS with the education discount is probably my best bet. I won't save $200-300 in interest over the course of 12 months by keeping the cash in my offset.
I thought I read that Microsoft was opening the floodgates to allow other re-sellers to sell the Surface, but I can't find the new one listed on any other websites for pre-order.
Buying at launch is usually the worst time to grab a bargain on a new device. Then again, it's normally the best time to buy the previous generation. What sort of education discount does MS provide?
