Frico Maasdam Cheese Wedges $10/kg (Save $8.99/kg) @ Woolworths from Wednesday

720

"The natural five week ripening process gives Frico Maasdam its delicious sweet and nutty taste. Due to its holes and taste this cheese is often referred to as Dutch Emmental. It can be added to any hot and cold dish, eaten as a snack or in a sandwich. It is also the perfect cheese for a cheese fondue. Frico Maasdam is recognisable by its slightly rounded cylinderrical shape and characteristic domed top. Within the cheese, holes are formed by gas produced inside the cheese during the ripening period."

  • Are they a suitable kind of cheese for pizza?

    • +4

No really, but great for fondue…

For pizza, try the Aldi Pizza blend, it's < $5 for 500g…

    • +3

It''ll be too strong tasting and probably release too much fat for pizza, and may not be stretchy enough. You need a mozzarella for pizza. A dryer mozzarella for your new york style or for standard commercial takeaway pizza style. If you 're making a traditional neapolitan style pie you need fresh mozz or bocconcini.

A word of warning:this cheese is NOT vegetarian as it contains animal rennet.

    • WARNING! This cheese is "Not for Vegans" as it contains Real Cows Milk lol.

      • +1

That's an obvious one, but the rennet one is not obvious for vegetarians.

I understand. Was just making a factual joke lol. Have some experience as I live with non meat eater ( eats fish and seafood ) and had Hari Chrishna friends also full of all different combination meat6/non meat/dairy eaters here in the Byron Bay Shire.

P.S. Being eating the Non Animal Rennet Nimbin Cheese for nearly two decades now, not because of vego rennet, but because Really Tasty Cheese :-)
