Paying for Google Play Music Family Plan with Telstra Credit

As per the title, just wondering if I can upgrade from my Google Play Music subscription which I currently pay for with my Telstra Google Play credit to the family plan and keep using the same payment method, I have upgraded but it requires a credit card as the payment option and you then can't change the payment method to the carrier billing. From what I can tell you used to be able too but no longer can but just wondering if anyone has any workarounds.

  • You just need to add the cc then change method to Telstra

    • Thanks for the reply, have you done it recently? as they seem to have removed it as a payment option, or am I just missing it.

      • A couple weeks back. You just go through the start process and change the billing style afterwards.

  • I was debating making the move to the Family Plan as well, trusting the above information… As a test however, I went into the settings to view the list of options for alternative payment methods on my current plan (assuming the system/process would be the same once updated to the family plan) and it specifically states underneath the Telstra option 'Not eligible'…

Which is ironic because it's how I'm currently paying for it… One thought is that it's ineligible 'to switch to' BECAUSE it's the current method in process, but that's too questionable for me to rely on…

Just don't want to end up in a position post experimentation where I can't pay for either the family plan OR the std plan via telstra billing (as I'm well aware Telstra aren't happy with it and are trying to discontinue its use).

    • I did get it to work, can't exactly remember how now but pretty sure it was something like you need to put in credit card details (can use a prepaid visa) and once it is set up then you can choose to pay via Carrier Billing.
