  • How much is it normally?

    • +1

      $799

      • thanks

  • Always wanted one of these, perhaps when I'm off the student budget I will be able to afford it

  • Yamaha and their proprietary shit. No one wants your garbage controller app or your stupid multiroom that works worse than Sonos and Chromecast. Just put Sonos or Chromecast support in.

Hmm I can only speak from my own experiences and I have found Musiccast to be the most reliable out of all of those you listed. In any case, they have airplay and Bluetooth, or you plug in a Chromecast audio if you really wanted to. Also apple just announced airplay 2 with multiroom support for iOS devices (along with Mac os devices already able to).
Anyways you don't have to buy it mate, I just wanted to let people know we have these on a hot deal at the moment.cheers

    • What a bizarre rant. All of the audio streaming technologies you mentioned are proprietary.

In fact Yamaha have integrated all of the ones available for licensing - Spotify Connect, Bluetooth and Airplay. AFAIK neither Google or Sonos have licensed their tech for stand alone amplifiers.

They are great sounding amps in my opinion, less clinical than Onkyo or Denon

      Cheers

      • None of the things you listed is a multiroom protocol. So that was weird.

Not sure how its bizarre, though. Manufacturers pushing their own standards to try and lock people in like it's 1998 still.

Same goes for HEOS, Bluecast, Sonica, MuSo, whatever that one Panasonic has, Omni, Shape, NuVo… it's like it's the 90s again. Play-Fi is the only open one worth the trouble, and no one supports it. Google does licence out cast, but the manufacturer to put it in a standalone amp is Sony afaik. Everyone else is just making second rate systems with third rate frontends.

FWIW, I've got an n500 and an n301. It's not like I hate the product. Just wish they would stop with the lame attempts at market fragmentation that they will all drop when Apple brings in multiroom airplay.
