UPPAbaby Vista 2015 (Blue/Yellow) - $950 + Shipping (Normally $1700+) @ Coolkidz

upv2016

I've been hunting for a new pram and settled on the UPPAbaby Vista. The problem was the price! I had pricing from Bubs for over $2k for just the pram and a rumble seat. Pretty happy that my wife stumbled upon this coupon which discounts the price by $850 from the supplier for the clearance colours. Blue is nice :-)

This coupon only applies to the Blue (Georgie) and Yellow (Maya) colours. Not sure if you can price match anywhere. I tried with Bubs and they weren't interested.

Shipping for me to Brisbane was about $45.

  • The yellow or wheat one was $950 2/3 weeks ago in Sydney baby Expo.
    That includes delivery.

    • that was then. this is now. currently is best price. Coolkidz is not offering that at any other expo.

Is it just me that thinks a pram costing more than my car is unbelievable……

Totally thinking the same thing. Quality is great I'm sure but $950 is a helluva lotta money to spend - I know we get very emotional when child safety is concerned but these manufacturers must be marking these products up about 600% without breaking a sweat.

      • only 600%? And its not about safety, it's a status symbol ;-)
Small & lightweight is the key if you want a practical pram/stroller. The number of mums I see struggling to negotiate shops, cafes, blocked footpaths, etc with their fancy $1-2k prams amazes me. Sure they've got latte holders & nappy wipe warmers and a basket the size of a small car's boot, but a few boxes in the supermarket aisle, chairs in a cafe,a mad pensioner kamakazing down the footpath and you're toast. Not to mention trying to squeeze the 15-20kg pram into the boot.

But if that's what you want, wait until Amazon comes here, you'll be able to buy them cheaper.

    • It's not just you, but I'll admit to getting sucked into expensive prams in the past. Nowhere near this expensive, but more than is necessary.

IMO a decent umbrella type stroller (eg Maclaren) is the way to go. They fit easy in any car, they're relatively cheap and they have a small footprint so you don't feel like clown pushing around a massive baby bus.

We got one as a 2nd pram for travelling and never really used the big pram again. We held onto the big one for baby 2 so we could buy a 2nd seat and load up toddler + baby, but we never did so it was sold (for more than we paid thanks to OZB/Amazon!).

    • your car costing less than a sub-1k pram is unbelievable….

This is a premium brand but on the cheaper end. Bugaboo, stokke, emmaljunga and joolz are more expensive brands.
The premium price gives excellent warranty - had my fram replaced for a faulty button that I ended up fixing. 2-3years warranty on premium brands.
These also retain their value when you sell. Just search on gumtree and you'll see - better reused than a cheap stroller which becomes landfill.

In the end - most of us could live with just a toyota corolla but that is not what we want…

      • So the premium price gives excellent warranty but not excellent quality it seems?

You should expect ~3+ yrs 'warranty' on any pram sold here. Australian consumer law and all. It's pretty easy to argue that 3yrs is a reasonable life to expect from a product that's advertised as being suitable for 0-4yrs, birth to 20kg or the like.

I definitely agree with the resale point though. Unfortunately a big reason cheaper prams end up in landfill is because they're not worth the effort to sell and op shops refuse to accept them. Madness!

        • I'd like to see you argue your consumer rights on a $50 kmart stroller that is advertised for 2-3 years of age. You wil at best get a refund if it fails/breaks before 12months.
Ive seen far worse problems on cheaper strollers than what I mentioned - your comment "So the premium price gives excellent warranty but not excellent quality it seems?" Is insignificant.

        • @MountFranklin:

Fair point, but I wasn't referring to the cheapest of cheap and if you read above you'll see I mentioned 'decent stroller'. I didn't think I'd need to repeat it.

Besides, be it $50 or $5000 the retailer can't fob you off to manufacturer so not sure it'd be a problem, but would anyone bother for $50??.

What you implied was that only premium brands enjoy good warranty, which is completely false.

I've seen reasonably priced strollers with zero problems so I'd say my comment about quality is perfectly valid.

If you want to justify ridiculously priced prams then start with the things that actually differentiate them from the others. Nicer fabric, trendy colors, better design, more features, lighter, easier to use, more accessories etc. Along with brand snobbery these are the reasons these prams sell. Maybe also warranty, but only for people who don't understand their rights.

    • Some mobile phones cost more than your car…

  • No normal person pays 2 grand for a pram. Regardless how much money they might have

    • No normal person puts there precious cargo in a sub $1000 pram.

    • Why pay for 2 grand if you can normally pay 1300 and now only $950, this excellent well design pram, but by this bloody hell heavy pram, and good luck fitting inside bus and say goodbye your car trunks space.
