Sony ZX220 Bluetooth Wireless Headphones $78 at Harvey Norman

140

This is my first deal post on OzBargain. I was looking to purchase a pair of bluetooth headphones to connect to my mobile phone, laptop and TV, and found these headphones at what looks to be a good price. These are currently $125 at JB Hi-Fi and $119 at the Good Guys. They are also currently on sale at Myer for $89 (down from $129).

EDIT: I just noticed that the title on Harvey Norman website says over-ear headphones but these are actually on-ear.

Hows the lag between video and audio?

    • Good question. I'm heading down to HN to buy them shortly, so I guess I'll find out. Hopefully not bad.

The 330bt, one model up from these, are unusable to eg watch Netflix with via an Apple TV. The lag is pretty bad.

      • That changes my mind about buying them, since I mainly want to watch TV. Thanks for the heads up.

I hate this about BT, it simply cannot be instant because of the transformation of audio that takes place. I believe some devices (TV's) can be adjusted for this though (delaying the video stream). I would love to hear from others how to they manage to get perfect lip-sync audio on a TV with a BT headset.

        • Following the other responses here I've done some further reading. Since changing the audio output of my Apple TV to stereo instead of 'best available', BT now seems to work a lot better with no real lag. Thought I'd let you know in case my comment earlier put you off.

I've got the 330bt's there is no perceptible lag when watching video on my iPad or phone, same as using my Qc35s.

This 'no lag' feature is not true of all Sony Bluetooth products (I've got a Bluetooth speaker that's unusable with video).

The only thing to remember about the 220bt's is the battery life is only 8 hours.

        • Interesting. I'll try again then with my iPad.

  • Sound Sync:No issues here. I have various bluetooth headsets including the Sony mdr-zx330bt which are simular to these but have a few extra features and longer battery life. Sync on all are fine and I watch Movies from my NAS, YouTube etc. All fine. Devices used are Android based i.e Nexus7 & Samsung tablet.

    • Agreed - I've got an old sony set from about 2012 and QC35s which have no lag.

  • Perhaps if the source itself is streamed wirelessly from another device, it negates this audio lag but if you stream video from a TV or HDMI connected AppleTV that then has to pass the audio through BT to your headphones there is a definite lag. My other half doesn't notice it all the time but for me it's too annoying to ignore.
