128G SanDisk ULTRA MicroSD SDSDQUA-128G Class 10 Card $69.00 at MSY or (Price Beat at OW $65.55)

180

Already at a great price for brick and mortar store at $69.00. However gave it ago and got OW to price beat, although it has to be ordered in (in my case not to just save $3.45 but for convenience, Im hardly ever around MSY).

OW sells for $99.00
JB sells for $157.00 (https://www.jbhifi.com.au/cameras/sandisk/sandisk-ultra-micr…)

I think this is the best price it's ever been locally.

Enjoy.

UPDATE: 2 day order in, Ordered sunday evening received ready to pick up tuesday morning. I can also confirm that it is able to do 4K video recording on my HTC10, although the HTC 10 is configured to only record 6 minutes at a time (to avoid overheating apparently !?). Anyway, not too worried about 4K.

    • Yeah, I did see that, I've been browsing/hunting down/stalking this size/type card for the last week. Im in Melbourne so I rather pay a couple extra bucks and collect myself.. in person.

Why buy this when we can get the Samsung Evo Select U3 from amazon for US$50.29 shipped (roughly the same price or may be a little bit more for much higher write speed).

    • I will second this guys. I also grabbed that SD card. Far superior to this SD card. $2 less and way faster. Don't get this.

There is still a learning curve for many buyers about u1 and u3 and modern devices that want faster write speeds, and hence manufacturers market using read spreads which are easy to get good numbers on.

I never get slower than SanDisk extreme now.

    • Also worth noting on this is that you get 6% cash back via Cash Rewards on this, so further saving, or may actually make it cheaper to buy (assuming you're not in a rush to get one within 2 weeks or less).

  • The U3 Samsung is AU $69.27 delivered and maybe cheaper if you make sure you get the best exchange rate possible which I didn't… (Bought May 2017)

I have the Samsung 128gb U3 and the SanDisk 64gb U3 (below) - Using a Samsung Galaxy S5 - stock and up to date in software.

    2017> AU $69.27 delivered = Samsung 128GB 100MB/s (U3)EVO Select Memory Card with Adapter (MB-ME128GA/AM - Bought May 2017 > received May 2017 (14days)

    2015> AU $65.06 delivered = SanDisk Extreme 64GB UHS-I/U3 Memory Card Up To 60MB/s Read With Adapter- SDSDQXN-064G-G46A - Bought 19 January 2015

Interestingly out of these 2 cards
Sandisk had a quicker result in the phone(didn't expect that), but the Samsung is lots quicker in the computer (as expected),(same phone & computer)
Tested using A1Deskbench in the phone and Crystaldiscmark in the computer - why didn't the Samsung perform as well in A1DeskBench, I don't know.
I also used SD Insight to see if the cards checked out as genuine, which they seem to.

    • What was the exact speeds?

differences can be due to random IO output vs sustained.

One anecdotal test you can do yourself is manually copy 1 large file and see if there is significant difference.
Then copy a huge bundle of small files and compare again.

  • Just a point on the write speed to consider, by the way consider I most probably will not shoot anything in 4K with my phone which is where I'll be using this card, or very VERY little 4K.

A current GoPro Hero 5 records 4K at 60Mbps, which is around 7,5MB/s (60 divided by 8) . Therefore a 'new' Ultra with a current 47MB/s write speed would therefore already be more than fast enough for 4K.

Please note the differences between Megabits and Megabytes per second (Mbps and MB/)s.

Keep in mind that although the Ultra is rated at 10MB/s minimum write speed, latest tests on this card have sown write speeds of up to 47MB/s, which backs up the consensus of improvements throughout the life of cards from their initial release.

During my research I found some of the Samsung Evo (greens) started at 19MB/s write speed, they are much higher now (more than I will most likely ever need).

If you need fast as can go Card then you should pay top $ for piece of mind, in my situation, I only require humble speeds, so I am happy with this.

    • Check their eBay store, it qualifies for 20% off with CRACKA20 code. I bought a Sandisk Extreme Pro Micro SD card from them for a good price.

Came here looking for U3 vs U1 comments - wasn't disappointed.

Don't buy U1 cards, just go for U3. You're better in the long run with the more capable card.

You know the old saying…if its too good to be true…

barcode on package is fake. its for another capacity.

  • Shame to see UHS II isn't taking off - whatever it's called.
The super fast, new spec one - with extra pins. It's a much faster type of MicroSD (think nvme vs sata) - and backwards compatible I think.

Very few out there, mostly high price lexar on amazon.

  • I believe The SanDisk 128gb will be fine for the Nintendo switch.
