Authentic Microsoft? Or imitation?
If imitation, there are much cheaper alternatives on ebay
eg. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Bluetooth-Wireless-Gamepad-Joypad…

Also, my understanding is that the cable is just for power (charges batteries) and all the button presses etc are sent via Bluetooth

  I have two of these. Both work as a standard USB gamepad when cabled - no bluetooth required on the PC side.
