  • the .mov format looks annoying. But besides that 1080p sounds good.

    • Hi, you could just rename the .MOV to .MPG or MP4 format to playback on PC, no conversion is required, as it is identical codec. But I believe iTune works with .MOV as well.

      • renaming doesn't actually do anything.

.mov isn't compatible with windows movie maker afaik (its not for myself)

        • Your correct samfisher, You cannot edit any .mov files in movie maker. You will have to convert it to edit it. Though i am sure there are other ways. Annoying yes, deal breaker i wouldn't say so.

  • Video Recording Mode 1080p: 1440 x 1080p / 30fps / 12Mbps, 16:9
    720p: 1280 x 720p / 60fps / 12Mbps, 16:9
    VGA: 640 x 480 / 60fps / 4Mbps, 4:3
    QVGA: 320 x 240p / 30fps / 0.7Mbps, 4:3
Format Video: MPEG-4 AVC / H.264: MOV, Audio: AAC

This does not recored is full 1080P full 1080P has a resolution of 1920 x 1080p

  • I own this camera, bought it from catch of the day. I think the video quality is really good, mainly at 720p at 60fps. I recken its awesome!

But….there are some bad points as alot of reviewers point out.
    * Still photos are terrible
    * There is no flash, so what ever your taking has to be in daylight or high light situations
    * The buttons on the camera are really really really REALLY BAD!!!! I actually HATe using my camera because the buttons are just so crappy and cheapily done. They sometimes dont work, are hard to press, inaccurate. Its as if a child has put this phone together.

I would choose another pocket hd cam over this one due to the buttons…even if its $50 more, you will thank yourself.

I paid approx $150~ when it was from cod. So price is good, camera is not (only because of the buttons).

this gets a positive from me, but just wanted other bargain hunters to really do some research before impulse buying like i did. I regret buying it due to the buttons!

    • Thanks for the info

    • I too bought this from the Cod special.
It was a regrettable impulse buy. Don't get excited by the prospect of recording in "HD"… it may say it records in 720p/1080p but the picture quality is pretty terrible. I'm no camera buff but the image appears really quite grainy and noisy, as you may be able to tell in the youtube vids below.

I'm not saying its the worst camera ever, just don't go expecting miracles from a $150 "HD" camera.
Then again, for $129 its not all bad.

  • Is it any good? How does it compare to a bigger flip out screen type cam corder thingy? My parents have a Cannon DVD Cam Corder which is not HD and its PQ isnt that bad, not super clear but very watchable.

Hows this go up against something like that?

  • Looks better then my Dads Cannon DVD Cam Corder. How does it go in the dark / night time?

So all you need to do is put in a 16 / 32GB SD card and you can recored for hours?

Have you ever tried playing it back on a large TV? If so how does the PQ look?

    • Dark/night time. Useless. even in a dimlight room the photos are very dull, no color and extremeley dark. There is no flash so that is to be expected.

Ive played back the movies on my monitor, which is a 24" 1920x1200, picture looks fine. Even at full screen. I would say it would also look fine on our 1080p 52" plasma, but i honestly havn't tried.
I capture most of my movies in 720p but…due to the 60fps, it makes a big difference in viewing in my opinion. Looks great at 60fps.

Can't stand 30fps now that i have been able to view and record in 60.
