$200ish Phablet (5.5"+) to Use as Screen for DJI Mavic

Hi

Looking for a Mobile/Tablet to use as a screen for my DJI Mavic Pro. Currently using a Nexus 7 2 that works fine apart from it's just not bright enough to use outdoors.

So looking for around the $200 mark for a 5.5" and greater mobile/tablet/phablet that's suitable and bright enough to use outdoors.

I had a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro, but DJI's GO App doesn't work (well can but not stable). Works fine on the Nexus and my current Asus Zenfone Zoom 3 phone so a little closer to stock Android seems fine.

So was thinking maybe Lenova ZUK 1 / Zuk 2, LeTV or ….. ?

Would be a bonus if the camera was semi reasonable to also use in a Osmo Mobile when I don't want to use my daily driver mobile.

Any suggestions / or to avoid ??

Cheers.

  • generally speaking, iOS plays nice with DJI Go, they don't optimize their Android app as much as they do their iOS.

    • True in regards for DJI Go App being best on iOS, however can't find a 5.5" iDevice for $200 area. I do have a iPad Air still, but too large (iPad Mini 4 seems to be the go) have thought about the adaptors to hold a larger tablet, but none seem capable of really holding the tablet for any decent length of time.

I do also have Litchi for Android, so something reasonably stable to use if need be.

  • +1

For any others looking. After looking at all the Chinese options, was going to end up with an Asus phone, was down to a 5.5" or a slightly older model with 6". Then it dawned on me and I went looking and found a reasonably cheap iPad Mini 2 with wi-fi/cell (so GPS model) for close to budget :)

    • How does the ipad mini 2 go in comparison to the Nexus?

      • Certainly brighter than my Nexus, the Nexus is meant to be pretty bright, but mine is certainly no longer. I did use it in the car for tracking 4WD tracks so brightness was always up full.

The screen ratio is also different, so the iPad is larger height wise as well so a little more screen estate. Touch is better as my Nexus was always a little harder to touch/drag etc than my iDevices at the time.

App is slightly different and some terminolgy named differently than the Android version.
