How can someone "lost" something big like Rear Projection TVs and Photocopier on the train?!

  • Cool, always wanted to go to one of these. Has anyone been to these auctions?

i saw it on the news once, there are hundreds of umbrellas + hats

  • I may go and see what all the fuss is about, though I'm afraid I might come home with a bundle of crap I won't use…!

For those who are interested, this is the full list of what will be going up for auction tomorrow. Definitely some strange items to bring on a train, let alone lose on a train!

What exactly are 15 faulty 30" LCD's doing on a train I dunno (I'm assuming they're together since they're the same brand and model…) I guess some people just want a free option to dump their faulty goods for free

    • Yeah, getting on a train at a station without barriers "losing" your faulty LCDs is definately a cheaper option..

    • These are more likely to be old screens that were used for station notifications of upcoming train services, rather than being real 'lost' property.

      • Probably, all the good stuff would probably have been nicked by the station staff already, or some scammer saying he/she "lost" something.

  • This item is most interesting
    " WorkStation: Generic, P4, 3000MHz, 2048MB RAM, 1960GB HDD, Powers Up, 2 * 500GB SATA HDDs, 1 * 640GB SATA HDD, 1 * 320GB SATA HDD. , GST Included in Sale Price"
I think the person who buys it is gonna be after the HDDs… but still why would a P4 require 4TB of storage…. If it's a HTPC then shouldn't it be at home next to the tele…
And some pretty decent Dell 24" Ultrasharps up for grabs albeit the 05 and 07 models

    • Not trying to be clever, but 500 + 500 + 640 + 320 = 2TB

      • You forgot the 1960GB HDD between "2048MB RAM" and "Powers Up"
Don't worry I did too until I looked for how much ram it had.

        • i thought thats just the total? "powers up" implies its made up of the following hdds?

          oh well :P

          • @Davo1111: mmmm didn't look at it that way, cause they do add up to 1960….. and there's no such thing as a 1960GB HDD…

I am also gonna assume some of the stations along the bankstown line have done a clean out of their first aid closets

    • A CHALLENGE!

      • that would be soooo cool :D

        • It's not all that hard really, especially with a good stethoscope and a cheap combo lock. The safe might be a bit harder, would need to determine what kind of lock it has and whether you have the right tools to compromise it.

          • @Tenebrae: They're both safes…. one's with a combination lock and the other uses a key.

  • So anyone go and find/bag themselves something interesting/cheap.

    • Isn't it already over?

      • Yes.
I was asking if anyone went and got something interesting, I've never been and was wondering if you could actually get somethign cheap.

        • also curious. any ozb-ers get a "good deal" they'd love to share?

  • Mate bought a pallet of 20" lcd monitors. Some are faulty. Nevertheless good pick up. Wish i could go and see if there was anything good.

    • How much did pay for it and how many are working?
