  • Just looking to see if they are Aussie hosted.

https://www.google.com.au/search?q="a+large%2C+well-known+da… shows many sites (operated by the same owners I assume) and this includes On A Cloud, however looks to specify Australian hosting https://www.google.com.au/search?q="Virtual+Servers+%26+Cust… so I'm wondering if their VPS hosting is Australian or not.

The normal price seems to indicate that it's hosted here but you never know (especially with a global 60% lifetime on all listed products)

    • Yeah mate they host out of the Micron21 data centre in Melbourne, I've been a customer for just over a year now and I haven't had any issues with speed or downtime.

That google search must be some generic text in the template they've used as it looks similar to the ones in the search.

    • Yes they are Australia based. Found this post on WHT AU where it stated that Tom used to work for Micron21.

      • Hi mccarthyp64 & scotty,

As hinley has said we sure are Australian Hosted. We host our own servers out of the Micron21 Datacentre in Melbourne for whom I did used to work. (Nice find !)

  • What hypervisor is used for the VPS?

  • Seems like it could be a good deal. Makes me consider changing from my current hosting….Will have to so some reading. Anyone else had experience with OnACloud?

    • Hi dheywood,

Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions.

      Tom

  • I'm looking for a quality managed VPS, locally hosted

    • Hi yoyomablue,

We offer server management based on your requirements, Feel free to send me a message or get in touch with our sales staff if you have any questions.

      Tom

  • Rep, it's saying $0.39 due now. Is this correct? Is this some kind of trial?

Edit: Sets billing as 1st of the month so charges you from now until tomorrow….

Could I get a week trial of your small VPS package or something to test how your servers are? Got another server in Micron21 I'm thinking of moving over.

    • +1

      Hi dyl,

That's correct our billing system is set for monthly billing from the 1st of each month, therefore any signups after the 1st month will be prorata billed and then the full amount billed on the 1st of following month.

We currently do not offer any trials however I can offer you 30 day money back guarantee if you are unhappy with the service.

Feel free to send me a message via our website or email [email protected]

      Thanks,

      Tom

  • What's the port speed? Are they still limiting each VPS to a 10mbit uplink?

    • Hi pacman99,

By default we still limit all VPS port speeds to 10mbit up & down, however this can be increased by simply contacting support.

      Thanks,

      Tom

      • To the maximum of what port speed and for what price?

        Thanks

        • No additional fees for speeds up to 100mbit.

Above 100mbit are available upon justification and additional fees may apply.

          Thanks,

          Tom

        • @onacloud-tom:
Ok I'm just trying to clarify this before I sign up.
I'm currently with an Australian host with a 1gbit port speed. I find your offering more attractive and am willing to put in the energy to switch but I need to know whether I would be eligible for a 1gbit port speed upgrade and at what cost before I move everything over.
The VPS and all traffic would be for personal use only. My justification, if you need to call it that, is that I will have access to internet connections >100mbit and want to make sure my transfers cater to such connections. My current service has that capability. So before I make the switch, I need to ensure I'm not downgrading the speed. Content are presentations, conference material, etc.

Can I, in the above scenario, expect to receive a 1gbit port? If yes, at what cost?

          Thanks

        • @pacman99:

Thanks for the additional information and your interest in our offer!

Based on this you would be eligible for the additional port speed, I do have a couple of additional questions which ask for some information on port utilization & current usage.

If you could send us a message either via our website or PM here & I will be able to assist you further.

          Thanks again,

          Tom

        • @onacloud-tom:
          Thanks. I have PM'd you.

  • Got a server with them, great so far. Port speed is 10mbps by default to avoid abuse, but support happily upped this to 100mbps for me no questions asked at no extra cost.

RAM allocations are a little confusing, ended up with 3949MB instead of 4GB… Not fusssed at all though.

Servers are hosted in Micron21 in Melbourne, bloody great location - have had many servers there. For those who are on Dodo through their Melbourne PoP, Micron21 seems to be peered amazingly well with Dodo (/Vocus). I get 1-2ms between my server and Dodo's PoP. There's a single hop between Dodo and Micron21 (VIC-IX).

    64 bytes from ...: icmp_seq=1 ttl=250 time=1.84 ms
    64 bytes from ...: icmp_seq=2 ttl=250 time=1.87 ms
    64 bytes from ...: icmp_seq=3 ttl=250 time=1.77 ms
    64 bytes from ...: icmp_seq=4 ttl=250 time=1.86 ms
    64 bytes from ...: icmp_seq=5 ttl=250 time=1.89 ms

      Hi dyl,

      Thanks for the feedback.

As for the RAM Allocations it should be 4GB (4096mb), get in touch with our support team & I will make sure this is resolved for you.

      Thanks,

      Tom

  • Can someone tell me if any port is blocked for their VPS? I'd like to use it as a mail server for my own domain, so I need to make sure the SMTP port is not blocked, likely with some ISP.

    • Hi @bugsucher,

We do not block any ports on our VPS services.

Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

      Tom

Thx, Tom. Acutally, I gave your service a go last night and got confirmed that it worked for my purpose. I'm now a happy customer of yours. :)
