CycleOps Mag Plus Trainer $49.99 + Shipping (RRP $349.99) @Pushys

430

Seems like a good price for a name-brand trainer. It looks like it has its power curve mapped so can be used with a speed sensor to get virtual power in apps such as Zwift and Trainerroad. Cheaper than the aldi one too.

Specs from Cycleops's website

  • Magnetic resistance unit provides a quiet and frictionless ride.
  • Linear resistance boosts workout intensity to match each pedal stroke and gear click.
  • Comes with convenient, adjustable handlebar- mounted shifter.
  • Noise level at 20 mph is 70-74 decibels.
  • Eccentric leveling feet allow for easy adjustment on uneven surfaces.
  • Precision-machined alloy roller reduces tire wear and slippage.
  • Comes on the CycleOps foldable Classic frame with spring loaded, bolt-action lever.
  • Adjust tire fit to resistant unit with a convenient turn knob.
  • 2" resistance unit roller allows for 650b, 700c, 26", 27" and 29" wheel sizes – up to a 2.0 tire.

Nearly the cost of the item, which seems typical for Pushys.

I just used the estimator tool on the site. $25 to the ACT.

  • shipping fee costs $23.76 to Mel.

OMG that is a cheap price. My Jet Black Z1 fluid bicycle trainer cost me $277 less $60 via an Amex deal I had at the time.

Next cheapest price I can find is well over $300 with shipping.

    • Thats a better trainer too IMO - variable resistance vs manual

      • Reduced from $400 I might add

    • That's also a really good price. Spend an extra dollar to get over $100 and there's free shipping too.

      • I tried. There was no option for free shipping when checking out

Thanks! I got this yesterday after seeing your comment and it was shipped today :D

  • darn, missed out!

  • Missed out too :(

  • Would something like this be good for just general exercise? Can I literally stick any bike on one of these, not just a proper road bike? eg fixed gear, bmx, mountain bike?

    • +1

I believe any bike but I have only put my normal road bike on it.

    • +1

A fixed would be fine. A bmx, probably a no. A mountain bike would depend on the wheelsize. The standard size would be fine (26"), but you would have to change the rear knobbly for a slick mountain bike tyre.

And you need a good fan if you do anything over 30mins.

      • Thanks guys, want to get fit again (and I believe riding is one of the best ways to get fit), but riding on the roads here are awful.

  • do people just sit in front of a tv and jump on the bike?

    • +1

I prefer to jump on my TV and then sit on my bike.

  • There is another one at Pusys for 100$
