  • These are good!

    • What's the advantages over the AC Lite which is around half the price?

      • Pro's can use standard POE if you already have a POE switch, with lite's you need to use their own POE adapter which comes with (check because some which are cheap have the POE adapter removed).

For me, thats why I would go away from the lites as i've got a Cisco 48pt POE switch (overkill). Im sure there are other reasons, but to keep the solution 'cleaner', Pros are the way to go.

AC Pro is another 50% faster. 3x3 vs 2x2 antennas. 1300/450 vs 867/300 rates.

A few other differences but the speed is the important one.

Two thumbs up for this product. Easy to configure and seems to work well.

*50% faster if you have a device that has a 3x3 antenna which as far as I know is only on MacBooks.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but to achieve those speeds you would also need that many antennas in your wireless device. Most mobile phones and laptops only have 1 or 2 antenna and will not be able to achieve the full speed offered on these access points?

    • Correct

    • Yes, many laptops are only 1x1 or 2x2. You need a high-end laptop like the Dell XPS or Apple MacBook to get 3x3.

I think some Samsung Galaxy phones also have 3x3, but not sure why you'd need that kind of speed on a phone.

      • I used to have my phone set up to upload video files when i got home and connected to the wireless network. They can be large. Probably not a killer feature but things seem to be moving that way. I would expect to change phones at least twice as often as wireless infrastructure so future proofing is good.

"Enterprise" is a bit of a stretch. These are okay for SMB under 250 seats, more like prosumer.

    • Hahaha i know what your saying… like their controller can only handle 20 ap's but i guess its only a 100 bucks. Then they give you the software and can run a controller on a Rpi or on server and have hundreds of access points.

  • I recently fitted out my house with 3 of the in wall models (2x2 like the Lite model). The change was driven by my 3 AirPort Extreme setup starting to lag behind the media demands of the house (2 teenage kids, etc). They are brilliant, absolutely miles ahead in coverage and speed tot he old apple setup. I already had Cat5 cabling around the house so running PoE devices just needed the switch support so also bought in to the Ubiquiti Unifi 16 port switch, replacing my Netgear setup.

So all done and coverage map showed I had full coverage arou d the house but had an access hot spot. So another order, this time for a Pro and a Ubiquiti Secure Gateway (need content filtering with teenagers) amd house is very well balanced.

So in conclusion very cool kit, the mesh wifi support smashes the apple setup it replaces, great interface but… Lkid a bad drug. Hooks you in and empties your pockets. Glad I made the switch though. Very tidy setup!

BTW the price ain't bad, they seem to fluctuate around the $208-$220 mark.of course one will not be enough as the value in these is the mesh support, then you will want.PoE+ support, then you will want…

I can verify this is only $5 or so above Australian wholesale prices guys so genuinely a bargain….

  • I think I will wait for a 5 pack of lights with 802.3af support/48v PoE
