DJI Spark Drone $777 / Fly More $1096.40 @ Cameras Direct

800

Fly More package

DJI's latest tiny drone is $777 at Cameras Direct over the weekend for delivery in July. It's $859 for the drone itself or $1,199 for the Fly More package directly from DJI.

GST is included so you can claim TRS.

It's much smaller and lighter than the Mavic, but only does 1080p30 24Mbps and 12MP JPEG which might be perfectly fine for some people.
It supports gesture recognition so you don't even need a phone to control it. Just don't forget the "land" gesture.

The optional controller increases the range to 0.5km.

The Fly More package includes the controller, an extra battery, more props, prop guards, and a shoulder bag.

    Hi all,

    First time poster here,
I placed an order for this but have requested to cancel due to reading into the regulations a little bit too much
Not sure if I'm too paranoid or what

Seeing as how this is marketed as a selfie drone or a recreational self use one,
Isn't that technically in violation of the 30m min from people/vehicles/buildings rule?

Have read a few posts online saying how authorities in certain countries have even found Clips of even personal use violating rules and thus handing out the fines!

Scared that this will end up being an expensive paperweight

    Thanks for all your advice!

    • I have the same concerns.

I didn't realize there are all these rules and DJI imposes flight restrictions on the software that could pretty much make it a very expensive paperweight!

Sort of tempted, sort of not. I would love to have one but at the same time I am not in a rush as following models are only going to get better features and be even better value for money.

I know what you mean… Putting 1080P video when the sensor is capable of 4K (at 12mp) is giving them room to 'upgrade' it with a Spark 2 in the near future just in time for Christmas with a 3 axis stabiliser and 60P at 1080 with a slightly larger battery for an extra 7 minutes of flying time!

When you think about it, it's a pretty expensive toy that works out at around $2.50 per gram for what is effectively pieces of plastic, and a bit of electronics, software, battery (yes I know I'm oversimplifying it).

The lower AU $ isn't helping either.. We just need to give President Trump a few more weeks to further destabilise the United States and the AU might increase in value making this drone even cheaper!.

They definitely won't do that so soon, simply because it'll eat into their Mavic sales. That's probably why it only does 1080… either that, or to save battery power.

They will do what they have to do to stay ahead of the market, I wouldn't be surprised if they did it for the Spark 2 and the Mavic 2 will get the new tech that doesn't currently exist. If the rate that drone technology has improved continues this will look underspecked and expensive in 1-2 yrs

        • @tryagain: Sure they'll do it eventually, I just said they won't release an updated Spark with 4K 5.5 months (=Christmas time) after they ship the first Spark.

    Hey Rep,
Can you do deal on the mavic + fly more?

    • This was painful to read

  • Such want, much love, little money.

  • Interested in getting one but not ready to shell out such huge sum of money, especially on pre-order. Looks like I am going to JB HiFi as they offer interest free to HSBC card holder…

  • UPDATE from REP. Pricing ends 9.30am Qld Time 28th May. https://www.camerasdirect.com.au/dji-drones-osmo/dji-spark

    • Wanted to get it with the FlyMore pack but price back to normal already…

      Can you extend the deal?

    • Hi StoreRep,

Was about to purchase the FlyMore pack but just noticed the pricing has finished. Can you extend for me?

      Thanks

      Bagus

    • Any chance to extend the deal? Wanted to get one…..

  • Thank you for your patience. All Spark orders for non fly combo will be filled on Monday. Stock has arrived earlier than expected with a few still available. Timing for fly more should be sooner than expected but let's not guess.

    • Is there any update on the fly more combos?

  • StoreRep, any chance you are doing this deal again particularly for Fly More combos?
