Safe to Stock up on Laundry Powder? How to Bulk Store

Considering bulk buying a few household items toiletries soap etc and stuff.. laundry powder is one of them. Laundry powder didn't have an expiry date afaik but is it safe to store them in their current original packaging for long periods of time.. I am thinking of getting some main household items out of the way for a few years.. large house owned by a small community so having a room full of necessities is an already established good idea.. we have got for example a kitchen full of cereal detergent soap and toilet and kitchen towel paper rolls for days.. some other items like rice and tea bags too..thinking of contributing by adding some laundry powder to that storage list as we have run out a few times in fast periods of high use when we have had a lot of visitors etc long periods of lots of people living in one house area.

We have a few big rooms for storage so space isn't an issue just wondering what ideal conditions would be as the storage is fairly cold and shaded no sunlight.

So how long can you store laundry powder and what would be the best ideal place for example keep in original packaging or buy sealed container for it.

Cheers thanks

Sorry this is not a joke post although it may seem like it. I know.

    something like this (omo) https://www.bigw.com.au/product/radiant-brilliant-whites-sha…
It stores fine. I scoop out what i need into a smaller container for weekly use and just refill as i go.

Was gonna get that but I might opt for the home brand one at less than $1/kg.

I have been using both home brand and some other premium brand.. could not tell the difference at all. So I am choosing the home brand because cheaper.

        • @AlienC: why do you want to bulk buy home brand? they never seem to go on sale, so buy it as you need it

        • @steff: because laziness..I am a set and forget kind of guy..same reason I need to buy a robot vacuum cleaner.. just need to empty it every once in awhile

        • @steff:
Homebrand products are great candidates for stocking up when Woolworths has a $10 off $100 spend, or fillers for targeted spend.
Because they are never on sale ;)

        • @Bad Wolf: fair point. didnt think of that. thank you

  • Doesn't need to be cold, just keep it dry to avoid clumping.

You need to visit Costco :)

  • Yeah don't worry about it, I am sure it will be fine.

  • Easy.. We fill it into empty coke plastic bottle. Won't get your hand dirty when you pour it into the washing machine.
We normally buy the 15/20kg box and use it for a year without any problem.

    • Small snaplock bags are great. Also gets the police really excited if ever they visit.

  • Years ago Coles discontinued the 1.5kg sized box of cold power.
It was a low silly bugger price for what we normally used so we bought all they had.
Stored on the bottom 2 shelves of the linen closet in original cardboard boxes.

First 2.5-3 years powder was loose as normal then 3-4 years we could tell it was starting to be affected, bit harder to scratch it out of the box and we started to dissolve in hot water then add to the machine. Still washed as normal.

    • moisture got into the boxes.
