Looking to purchase Xiaomi Redmi 2GB 16GB Global ROM with band 28

I've been told I should get one with band 28. Can anybody please tell me if this one has this band?

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Original-Xiaomi-Redmi-4X-4-X…

If not, is there a seller on Aliexpress who is selling this model (with the global / international ROM) with band 28?

Also will this phone work with Aldi prepaid?

Thanks!

  • Band 28 is used by Telstra on the 700mhz spectrum (band 28), this is useful for regional locations, generally outside of the CBD given its spectrum it can penetrate much further. I live regional and have a Mi4C and i only the notice the difference when im driving to other towns about an hour away. Its worth it, but not essential depending on your location and choice of provider.

Incorrect, band 28 radio frequencies penetrate indoors and in between buildings. It has little use for regional areas.

Sorry if i didnt go into enough detail in two sentences……..
Rather than take one bit out of my sentence maybe you could add to it next time.

On that note, why would Telstra roll it out to regional areas….Heres the facts

700Mhz has 2012 locations (majority of these are now in regional locations)
        900mhz has 61 locations
        1800mhz has 3729 locations
        2100mhz has 60 locations
        2600mhz has 178 locations

        Obtained from here https://crowdsupport.telstra.com.au/t5/Coverage-Network/Tels…

      • It has longer range than the higher fequencies therefore it is absolutely suitable for regional areas.. the side effect of better range is better signal penetration into buildings.

Long Range in metro areas is actually a BAD thing as more range = more users = overcrowding of the tower, hence why more Regional areas as below have 700MHz than metro.
the 700MHz metro is solely used in built up areas to get better penetration.

No it doesn't have Band 28.
The Redmi you're looking for is the Redmi Note 3 Pro Special Edition (codenamed: Kate) (the non Band 28 version is codenamed: Kenzo)
Now that the Redmi Note 4 has been released, the Note 3 Pro has stopped manufacture and as a result, they're pretty hard to find these days..
I'm also not sure that Kate's came in the 2Gb/16Gb variant. I think they were only 3Gb/32Gb from memory.
Heaps of deals for them posted over the past 12 months, so have a search on OzBargain and see if you can still buy from any of those sellers.

I don't believe that there is a Redmi Note 4 version that supports Band 28 yet, but it's important to know that the Kate version was released many months after the Kenzo version, so there is still hope.

As above, Band 28 is only a "Nice to have" feature for most Australians, it's not the "essential feature" that many make it out to be. Chances are that your current phone doesn't have Band 28 support either. Assuming you're currently on ALDI, if you're happy with the coverage you currently get, then the linked phone will offer very similar coverage.
I own a Kenzo running on the Full Telstra Network.. I have no signal problems at all.

    • Thanks! I went ahead and purchased this phone since it doesn't sound like band 28 is necessary for me.
