Base WoW gives you all expansions before the current one for free.
So if you login to your old WoW account (and pay for 1 month of sub), you could play up to Warlords without buying Legion.
Amazes me what a cash cow this has been for blizzard. I am sure its a very addictive game, heck I played D3 and can see that it was designed by people with PHDs in stimulating addictive behaviour you know the type of people that design slot machines for casinos.

Like coxymla said above, you can resubscribe and you have all the expansions except the latest one. Depending on when you stopped, this could still provide significant content before committing to buy Legion.
Yeah that's a good point. I only got part way through the new content on Mysts of Pandaria so I'd still have a decent amount to go through.
If you don't care much about guilds and grouping and just want to level single player, then the best value is just to play each expo for free (1 month sub required ofc) when the next one comes out.
For me the social aspect is a big part of it for me, but I may as well do that just to see if I still have an interest or get bored very quickly. There's a lot of content I can catch up on. Thanks :)

I used to play this ages ago - when Death Knights just came out. Question, if you want to start again, do you need to have all the expansions before this, or ca you just get the Legion and it would include previous releases as well?
